In this volume well-known experts on Lucan examine the poetological, narratological and stylistic techniques the author employed to write on the theme of civil war. The epic poem is at once both conforms to and exceeds the tradition of the genre, and confronts its readers with a new kind of aesthetic.Beiträge zur Altertumskunde ;Bd. 282.Epic poetry, LatinHistory and criticismElectronic books.Epic poetry, LatinHistory and criticism.873873.01Hömke Nicola1003172Reitz Chirstiane1036848MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910459448703321Lucan's Bellum civile2457440UNINA04340nam 22007212 450 991078470120332120160318094158.01-107-13112-X1-280-95572-497866109557251-139-13030-70-511-35123-20-511-14133-50-511-14101-70-511-75488-40-511-14125-4(CKB)1000000000353885(EBL)244582(OCoLC)80242955(SSID)ssj0000210060(PQKBManifestationID)11168875(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000210060(PQKBWorkID)10282538(PQKB)10311866(UkCbUP)CR9780511754883(Au-PeEL)EBL244582(CaPaEBR)ebr10114330(CaONFJC)MIL95572(OCoLC)935228972(MiAaPQ)EBC244582(PPN)261363271(EXLCZ)99100000000035388520100422d2001|||| uy| 0engur|||||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierNew challenges to health the threat of virus infection /edited by G.L. Ludwig.Viruses continually evolve and adapt, posing new threats to health. This book discusses the ecology of viruses with particular emphasis on the emergence of devastating haemorrhagic disease, and reviews the molecular and cell biological basis of the pathogenesis of several virus diseases. An introduction is given to the mathematical analysis of recurrent epidemic virus disease, such as measles. Neurological and psychological disease is discussed in relation to the pathological mechanisms that may underlie prion disease (such as new variant CJD) and to the possible virus involvement in human psychiatric illness. Virus infections that have come to prominence recently (HIV, bunyaviruses, morbilliviruses and caliciviruses) or that remain a threat (influenza and hepatitis viruses) are discussed. There are also chapters on new and potential niches for virus infections in the immunocompromised, and the problem of the emergence of antiviral drug resistance in viruses for which therapies exist.Symposium of the Society for General Microbiology ;60.Virus diseasesCongressesMedical virologyCongressesInfectionCongressesVirus diseasesMedical virologyInfection614.575Smith Geoffrey L.1955-Society for General Microbiology,UkCbUPUkCbUPBOOK9910784701203321New challenges to health3728306UNINA
