Sebastian Conrad compares the ways German and Japanese scholars revised national history after World War II in the shadows of fascism, surrender, and American occupation. Defeat in 1945 marked the death of the national past in both countries, yet, as Conrad proves, historians did not abandon national perspectives during reconstruction. Quite the opposite-the nation remained hidden at the center of texts as scholars tried to make sense of the past and searched for fragments of the nation they had lost. By situating both countries in the Cold War, Conrad shows that the focus on the nation can be understood only within a transnational context.California world history library ;12.HistoriographyGermanyHistory20th centuryWorld War, 1939-1945InfluenceWorld War, 1939-1945Social aspectsGermanyWorld War, 1939-1945Social aspectsJapanCold WarSocial aspectsGermanyCold WarSocial aspectsJapanJapanHistory20th centuryGermanyHistoriographyJapanHistoriographyElectronic books.HistoriographyHistoryWorld War, 1939-1945Influence.World War, 1939-1945Social aspectsWorld War, 1939-1945Social aspectsCold WarSocial aspectsCold WarSocial aspects943.086072/043Conrad Sebastian610553MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910459430903321The quest for the lost nation2465067UNINA01246cam0 2200289 450 E60020003456320240405092908.088-14-13409-X20080218d2007 |||||ita|0103 baitaITCreazione di valore, corporate governance e informativa societariascritti in onore di Ferdinando Superti Furgaa cura di Piero Mella, Dario VeloMilanoGiuffrè2007XXII, 904 p.ill., 1 ritr.24 cmCollana di diritto ed economia - Università degli Studi di PaviaDipartimento di Ricerche Aziendali001LAEC000245832001 *Collana di diritto ed economia - Università degli Studi di Pavia : Dipartimento di Ricerche AziendaliVelo, DarioA600200038068070Mella, PieroA600200046715070ITUNISOB20240405RICAUNISOBUNISOB340137458E600200034563M 102 Monografia moderna SBNM340006343Si137458acquistopomicinoUNISOBUNISOB20080218100318.020240405092908.0rovitoCreazione di valore, corporate governance e informativa societaria1024325UNISOB
