Jahrhunderts auf und dokumentiert damit eine Experimentierphase der Medien- und Drucktechnikgeschichte. Letztendlich konnte sich das Blockbuch in seiner ursprünglichen Form jedoch nicht durchsetzen, weshalb seine kulturgeschichtliche Bedeutung lange Zeit meist zu gering bewertet wurde.
