Why did business end up better organized in Chile, Colombia, and Mexico than in Argentina and Brazil? The explanation for the surprising cross-national variations lays neither in economic characteristics of business nor broader political parameters, but in the cumulative effect of actions of state actors. The book also considers the consequences of these differences in organization and finds that stronger encompassing associations offer government officials opportunities for concerted policy making with business that can enhance policy implementation. The strong hand of the state in organizing business has important implications not only for theories of collective action, but also for our understanding of civil society and its potential to promote democratization.Business Politics & the State in Twentieth-Century Latin AmericaBusiness and politicsLatin AmericaHistory20th centuryIndustrial policyLatin AmericaHistory20th centuryLatin AmericaPolitics and government20th centuryBusiness and politicsHistoryIndustrial policyHistory322/.3/098Schneider Ben Ross1032139UkCbUPUkCbUPBOOK9910457723703321Business politics and the State in twentieth-century Latin America2449837UNINA02596nam 2200565 a 450 991078093200332120161219111720.01-4462-7857-31-84445-551-31-282-48446-X97866124844691-84445-806-7(CKB)2550000000002428(EBL)820147(OCoLC)650092109(SSID)ssj0000443128(PQKBManifestationID)11299719(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000443128(PQKBWorkID)10455569(PQKB)10076777(MiAaPQ)EBC820147(StDuBDS)EDZ0000158740(EXLCZ)99255000000000242820130912d2008 fy 0engur|||||||||||txtccrTeaching history in primary schools[electronic resource] /Pat HoodlessExeter Learning Matters20081 online resource (vii, 166 p.) illAchieving QTSDescription based upon print version of record.1-84445-140-2 Includes bibliographical references (p. 157-162) and index.Cover; Prelims; 1 Introduction; 2 Knowledge and understanding of primary history; 3 Guidance and support for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2; 4 Planning for progression and opportunities for the development of key skills; 5 Understanding and using teaching strategies in primary history; 6 Monitoring and assessment; 7 Resourcing primary history and collaborative working; 8 Making the most of links with literacy and mathematics; 9 E-learning and ICT in primary history; 10 Creative and innovative approaches; 11 Creativity and cross-curricular links in Key Stages 1 and 212 Equality, inclusion and diversity as part of the history curriculum13 Contexts for out-of-school learning in history; References; INDEXThis title introduces trainees and newly-qualified primary teachers to the teaching of history in primary schools, and covers key concepts, skills and knowledge for the history curriculum at Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2.Achieving QTS.HistoryStudy and teaching (Elementary)Great BritainHistoryStudy and teaching (Elementary)372.890440941Hoodless Pat1947-1566394StDuBDSStDuBDSBOOK9910780932003321Teaching history in primary schools3861207UNINA02193nam 2200649Ia 450 991081218360332120230207225815.01-351-15686-11-281-83424-697866118342410-7546-9351-1(CKB)1000000000554960(OCoLC)503445708(CaPaEBR)ebrary10254941(SSID)ssj0000741099(PQKBManifestationID)12348757(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000741099(PQKBWorkID)10701920(PQKB)11167132(SSID)ssj0000166816(PQKBManifestationID)11924579(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000166816(PQKBWorkID)10168724(PQKB)11785642(MiAaPQ)EBC438809(Au-PeEL)EBL438809(CaPaEBR)ebr10254941(CaONFJC)MIL183424(OCoLC)320277573(EXLCZ)99100000000055496020080503d2008 uy 0engurcn|||||||||txtccrHacking the human[electronic resource] social engineering techniques and security countermeasures /Ian MannAldershot Ashgatec20081 online resource (267 p.)
