Developing the institutional mechanisms for generating early consent required the constant transformation of child-rearing theory and practice over the course of the nineteenth century. L'angle d'approche documente moins des politiques sociales, des règlements ou des directives que leur mise en œuvre pratique et les façons d'être ou d'agir des professionnel-le-s en interaction avec des bénéficiaires de l'aide sociale. Il questionne le travail de réinsertion tel qu'il se produit, au quotidien. La recherche présentée ici montre que ce travail de réinsertion renvoie avant tout à une « resocialisation », c'est-à-dire davantage à un reformatage des comportements qu'au développement des compétences et des réseaux des bénéficiaires.
