It offers important insights into the nature of both our social and natural world, and the nature of the social sciences by challenging conventional notions of the relationship between empirical experiences, actual events, and causal mechanisms. Critical Realism and the Social Sciences brings together contributors from both sides of the Atlantic, all of whom engage with tenets of critical realism, juxtaposing them with traditional representations of social scientific enquiry.United in the belief that the conceptual systems hitherto relied upon affect our styles of thought, ethical choices, political orientations, and so on, the contributors explore realism in relation to other currents of theoretical thought, thus suggesting a basis for evaluation and further elaboration of critical realism. As a whole, the volume seeks to show how this particular approach provides a way to better understand many aspects of social existence, from human attributes to the interrelatedness of human activities and the natural world. In this much-needed study, critical realism is carefully examined, sympathetically assessed, and creatively developed by authors from diverse disciplinary backgrounds.Social sciencesPhilosophyTextbooksCritical realismTextbooksCritical realismSocial sciencesPhilosophyMarxist criticismElectronic books.Social sciencesPhilosophyCritical realismCritical realism.Social sciencesPhilosophy.Marxist criticism.300Frauley Jon1972-Pearce FrankScholars Portal.MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910456366303321Critical realism and the social sciences2212893UNINA02003nam 2200505 450 991080866320332120200520144314.0962-996-940-8(CKB)3430000000000311(MiAaPQ)EBC5433564(OCoLC)899266262(MdBmJHUP)muse37464(BIP)045665683(Au-PeEL)EBL5433564(CaPaEBR)ebr11582932(OCoLC)1042323512(EXLCZ)99343000000000031120180706d2013 uy 0engurcnu||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierA door in Epynt /editors, Bei Dao, [and four others]Hong Kong [China] :The Chinese University Press,2013.1 online resource (78 pages)Xianggang guo ji shi ge zhi ye 2013 =International poetry nights in Hong Kong, 2013"Dao yu huo da lu" he zhuang cong shu ;5 =Islands or continents box-set collection962-996-614-X Drawn from International Poetry Nights in Hong Kong 2013, A Door in Epynt is a chapbook of poetry by Menna Elfyn presented in Welsh, English, and Chinese.
