Applying the techniques of conversation analysis, Hanneke Houtkoop-Steenstra reveals how certain rules of normal conversation fail to apply in interviews based on a standard questionnaire, and offers original empirical evidence to show what really happens. Her book demonstrates that interview results can only be understood as products of the contingencies of the interview situation, and not, as is usually assumed, the unmediated expressions of respondents' real opinions. Her conclusions have important implications for anyone interested in effective survey compilation and interpretation. The book is highly accessible, setting out the basic tools of conversation analysis simply and clearly, and suggesting ways of improving questionnaire design wherever possible. Its approach will be of great interest to students and researchers of survey methodology.Interaction & the Standardized Survey InterviewInterviewing in sociologyInterviewingSocial surveysQuestionnairesInterviewing in sociology.Interviewing.Social surveys.Questionnaires.001.4/33Houtkoop-Steenstra Hanneke174957UkCbUPUkCbUPBOOK9910455209903321Interaction and the standardized survey interview540517UNINA03898nam 2200577 450 991079102590332120230803221552.01-119-05510-51-118-92133-X(CKB)2550000001314332(EBL)1708806(OCoLC)881417222(MiAaPQ)EBC1708806(Au-PeEL)EBL1708806(CaPaEBR)ebr10881037(CaONFJC)MIL617480(OCoLC)881183578(EXLCZ)99255000000131433220140617h20142014 uy 0engur|n|---|||||rdacontentrdamediardacarrierUplifting leadership how organizations, teams, and communities raise performance /Andy Hargreaves, Alan Boyle, Alma HarrisSan Francisco, California :Jossey-Bass,2014.©20141 online resource (240 p.)Includes index.1-118-92132-1 1-306-86229-9 Uplifting Leadership: How Organizations, Teams, and Communities Raise Performance; Copyright; Contents; Introduction: Uplift; Emotional and Spiritual Uplift; Social and Community Uplift; Uplifting Performance; Investigating Uplift; What Uplifting Leadership Is NOT; Uplifting Leadership; 1.
