There appears to be a long-run relationship for demand for real M2, but the relationship is not stable. Exogenous output shocks, financial innovation, changes in income velocity, and inadequate data quality contribute to the instability. The authorities may need to apply the monetary targeting regime flexibly in the overall objective of preserving price stability. A possible option for The Gambia is to become an inflation targeter lite.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2009/192Money supplyGambiaMonetary policyGambiaInflation (Finance)GambiaBanks and BankingimfInflationimfInvestments: GeneralimfMoney and Monetary PolicyimfDemand for MoneyimfFinancial Markets and the MacroeconomyimfGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data)imfPrice LevelimfDeflationimfMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: GeneralimfBanksimfDepository InstitutionsimfMicro Finance InstitutionsimfMortgagesimfMonetary economicsimfInvestment & securitiesimfMacroeconomicsimfBankingimfDemand for moneyimfTreasury bills and bondsimfMonetary baseimfCommercial banksimfMoneyimfFinancial institutionsimfPricesimfGovernment securitiesimfMoney supplyimfBanks and bankingimfGambia, TheimfMoney supplyMonetary policyInflation (Finance)Banks and BankingInflationInvestments: GeneralMoney and Monetary PolicyDemand for MoneyFinancial Markets and the MacroeconomyGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data)Price LevelDeflationMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: GeneralBanksDepository InstitutionsMicro Finance InstitutionsMortgagesMonetary economicsInvestment & securitiesMacroeconomicsBankingDemand for moneyTreasury bills and bondsMonetary baseCommercial banksMoneyFinancial institutionsPricesGovernment securitiesMoney supplyBanks and banking336.54Sriram Subramanian1532213International Monetary Fund.African Dept.DcWaIMFBOOK9910788310803321The Gambia3778297UNINA
