Or so it seems. As is well documented, there is a distinct under-representation of girls studying computing at high school level and, correspondingly, going on to have careers in IT. To address this problem, in 2007 the authors of this book, with backgrounds in secondary teaching or IT, trialled a new and revolutionary program in schools: 'Digital Divas'. The Digital Divas program, based on the idea that it was possible to change girls' perceptions of IT careers with educationally sound materials that tapped into their interests and were delivered in all-girl classes within the school curriculum, was a great success. In 'Digital Divas: Putting the Wow into Computing for Girls', Fisher, Lang, Craig and Forgasz recount what they did and how they did it, and reflect on the significance of this program, which has indisputably led to an increased self-sufficiency with IT amongst girls, challenged stereotypical understandings of IT as a male activity, and increased the pursuit of IT careers by young women.EducationComputers and womenWomen in computer scienceWomen in information scienceInformation technologyStudy and teaching (Secondary)ComputersStudy and teaching (Secondary)women in information scienceinformation technologymedia and communicationscomputerseducationstudy and teaching (secondary)CurriculumFocus groupSingle-sex educationComputers and women.Women in computer science.Women in information science.Information technologyStudy and teaching (Secondary)ComputersStudy and teaching (Secondary)004.082Fisher Julie L.894931McLeod AmberMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQUkMaJRUBOOK9910137171703321Digital divas1999485UNINA03141nam 2200577Ia 450 991044795910332120200520144314.097808911284270891128425(CKB)2560000000101573(EBL)3110207(SSID)ssj0001035924(PQKBManifestationID)11656933(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001035924(PQKBWorkID)11041006(PQKB)10101667(MiAaPQ)EBC3110207(Perlego)3009488(EXLCZ)99256000000010157319990416d1999 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrEarly Christians speak faith and life in the first three centuries /Everett Ferguson3rd ed.Abilene, TX ACU Pressc19991 online resource (176 p.)Description based upon print version of record.9780891120452 0891120459 Includes bibliographical references and index.""Table of Contents""; ""A Word to the Reader""; ""The Setting and Sources for Our Study""; ""The Faith Preached and Believed""; ""Baptism in the Second Century""; ""Alternatives to Immersion""; ""The Beginning of Infant Baptism""; ""Christian Assemblies""; ""Early Worship Services""; ""Early Accounts of the Lords Supper""; ""The Language of the Real Presence About the Lords Supper""; ""Sacrificial Ideas Associated with the Lords Supper""; ""The Love Feast (Agape)""; ""Some Early Prayers""; ""Some Early Christian Hymns and Poetry""; ""The Organization of the Early Church""""Church Discipline""""Christian Living in the Second Century""; ""Early Christian Acts of Mercy""; ""Christians and Military Service""; ""Women in the Early Church""; ""Glossary""; ""Alphabetical List of Sources Cited""; ""Time Chart""; ""Index of References""; ""General Index""These studies in early church history cover various aspects of the church life of early Christians. They focus on the second century. What did the second century Christian leaders say about faith, baptism, infant baptism, worship services, the Lord's Supper, prayer, singing, church organization, mercy and the role of women? New Testament texts bearing on the topic are listed at the beginning of each chapter. We are talking about the same community of people, the same church, as existed in the New Testament. Such writings have an important bearing on the interpretation of the Scriptures.
