Accurate and timely information can result in better decisions that translate into the improvement of bottomline results. The development and effective use of cost modeling as a method to understand the cost of products, services, and processes can help drive improvements in the quality and timeliness of decision making. In the supply chain community, an understanding of the actual cost structures of processes, products and services, whether with new or nonpartner suppliers, can facilitate fact-based discussions that are more likely to result in agreements that are competitively priced and with fair margins. Further, accurate cost models that are cooperatively developed between supply chain partners can form the basis for joint efforts to reduce non-value-added costs and provide additional focus toward operational improvement.Supply and operations management collection.2156-8200Costs, IndustrialMathematical modelsCost modelShould-cost modelprojected cost modelcrossover modelcost of qualitypurchasingnegotiationcost managementstrategic sourcingprocurementExcel applicationssupply chain managementmake or buynon-value-added cost reductionbreakevenlearning curvetotal cost of ownershipnet present valuesimulationexpected valueCosts, IndustrialMathematical models.658.1552Sower Victor E.873373Sower Christopher H.MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910788161203321Better business decisions using cost modeling3714800UNINA04402nam 22006975 450 991043804040332120251113185123.09783319005782331900578210.1007/978-3-319-00578-2(CKB)2670000000371085(EBL)1205653(SSID)ssj0000905953(PQKBManifestationID)11491753(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000905953(PQKBWorkID)10926399(PQKB)11707517(DE-He213)978-3-319-00578-2(MiAaPQ)EBC1205653(PPN)169137635(MiFhGG)9783319005782(EXLCZ)99267000000037108520130420d2013 u| 0engur|n|---|||||txtccr7th International Conference on Practical Applications of Computational Biology & Bioinformatics /edited by Mohd Saberi Mohamad, Loris Nanni, Miguel P. In fact, the need for computational techniques that can efficiently handle the huge amounts of data produced by the new experimental techniques in Biology is still increasing driven by new advances in Next Generation Sequencing, several types of the so called omics data and image acquisition, just to name a few. The analysis of the datasets that produces and its integration call for new algorithms and approaches from fields such as Databases, Statistics, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Optimization, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. Within this scenario of increasing data availability, Systems Biology has also been emerging as an alternative to the reductionist view that dominated biological research in the last decades. Indeed, Biology is more and more a science of information requiring tools from the computational sciences. In the last few years, we have seen the surge of a new generation of interdisciplinary scientists that have a strong background in the biological and computational sciences. In this context, the interaction of researchers from different scientific fields is, more than ever, of foremost importance boosting the research efforts in the field and contributing to the education of a new generation of Bioinformatics scientists. PACBB‘13 hopes to contribute to this effort promoting this fruitful interaction. PACBB'13 technical program included 19 papers from a submission pool of 32 papers spanning many different sub-fields in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. Therefore, the conference will certainly have promoted the interaction of scientists from diverse research groups and with a distinct background (computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists). The scientific content will certainly be challenging andwill promote the improvement of the work that is being developed by each of the participants.  .Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing,2194-5365 ;222Computational intelligenceArtificial intelligenceBioinformaticsComputational IntelligenceArtificial IntelligenceComputational and Systems BiologyComputational intelligence.Artificial intelligence.Bioinformatics.Computational Intelligence.Artificial Intelligence.Computational and Systems Biology.570.285Mohd Saberi Mohamad1373428MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK99104380404033217th International Conference on Practical Applications of Computational Biology & Bioinformatics4463156UNINA
