To shed light on this phenomenon, the authors mapped the pathologies originating from the effects of soluble mineral salts and installed wells to monitor the underground water supply at five locations in the city where the phenomenon most frequently occurs. Further, they analyzed samples of soil, groundwater, and bricks affected by the phenomenon and measured levels of chloride in the atmosphere at these sites. The results obtained indicate that the pathological manifestations are influenced by the high levels of soluble salts observed in the soil and groundwater samples collected, and are not affected by chloride in the atmosphere.SpringerBriefs in Applied Sciences and Technology,2191-530XCeramicsGlassComposite materialsComposite materialsBuilding materialsCeramics, Glass, Composites, Natural Materialshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/Z18000Building Materialshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T23047Ceramics.Glass.Composite materials.Composite materials.Building materials.Ceramics, Glass, Composites, Natural Materials.Building Materials.666.44620.14Delgado João M.P.Qauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut739871Silva Fernando A.Nauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autAzevedo António Cauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autRibeiro Ariosvaldoauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910410040803321Salt Damage in Ceramic Brick Masonry2546834UNINA
