Each of the case studies highlights the key corporate governance changes made and the positive impacts that resulted, as reported by the company. The companies represent various countries, sectors, types, and sizes. All of the companies featured are former IFC Advisory Services clients. Some are IFC Investment clients as well. IFC conducted an in-depth corporate governance assessment for each of these companies using IFC's Corporate Governance Methodology. The assessments resulted in specific recommendations on ways to improve each company's governance framework and identified implementation plans. The assessments were conducted at various points over the past few years. The time taken to implement changes and realize benefits varied. However, all companies reported that governance changes are continuous and the corresponding benefits manifest themselves in different forms over time. This report provides examples of companies in various stages of change - from recent changes (e.g., Medgulf) to ongoing, longer-term changes (e.g., Bank Audi). This report also includes testimony from three MENA private equity firms (all IFC investment clients). Collectively, these firms have worked with 72 investee companies (past and present funds). Selected based on their association with IFC and their willingness to share their insight and experiences, these firms offer a valuable window into the importance of corporate governance from an investor's perspective. The material in this report is based on feedback gathered through individual interviews with each organization featured, resulting in well-considered responses. The achievements highlighted are all the more notable given that the interviews and information gathering process took place in in late 2009 (first edition) and 2013 (for current edition), when the region was still under the stress of the crisis.Other papersWorld Bank e-Library.Corporate Governance AccountabilityAccountingAsset ManagementAuditsBanking SectorCapitalCollectionsCorporate GovernanceCorporate Governance and CorruptionCorporate LawCorporate Social ResponsibilityCreditDebtDeveloping CountriesEconomic DevelopmentEmploymentEquityFinanceFinancial CrisisFinancial InstitutionsFinancial ManagementFinancial ServicesFiscal YearForeign Direct InvestmentGood GovernanceGrantsHuman CapitalInflationInfrastructureInsuranceInterest RatesInternational FinanceJob CreationLabor CostsLandLaw and DevelopmentLoansPrivate Sector DevelopmentProductivityProfitabilityRegulatorsReputationRetirementReturn On EquityRiskRisk ManagementShareholder ProtectionTechnical AssistanceTransparencyTransportAccountabilityAccountingAsset ManagementAuditsBanking SectorCapitalCollectionsCorporate GovernanceCorporate Governance and CorruptionCorporate LawCorporate Social ResponsibilityCreditDebtDeveloping CountriesEconomic DevelopmentEmploymentEquityFinanceFinancial CrisisFinancial InstitutionsFinancial ManagementFinancial ServicesFiscal YearForeign Direct InvestmentGood GovernanceGrantsHuman CapitalInflationInfrastructureInsuranceInterest RatesInternational FinanceJob CreationLabor CostsLandLaw and DevelopmentLoansPrivate Sector DevelopmentProductivityProfitabilityRegulatorsReputationRetirementReturn On EquityRiskRisk ManagementShareholder ProtectionTechnical AssistanceTransparencyTransportInternational Finance Corporation.DJBFDJBFBOOK9910832964703321UNINA02244nam 2200397z- 450 991040421410332120210212989-26-1897-1(CKB)4100000011302790(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/61749(oapen)doab61749(EXLCZ)99410000001130279020202102d2020 |y 0engurmn|---annantxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierUrban Transformations in the Late Antique West: Materials, Agents, and ModelsCoimbra University Press20201 online resource (380 p.)Classica Digitalia: Humanitas Supplementum - Estudos Monográficos989-26-1898-X This volume is the fruit of a highly productive international research gathering academic and professional (field- and museum) colleagues to discuss new results and approaches, recent finds and alternative theoretical assessments of the period of transition and transformation of classical towns in Late Antiquity. Experts from an array of modern countries attended and presented to help compare and contrast critically archaeologies of diverse regions and to debate the qualities of the archaeology and the current modes of study. While a number of papers inevitably focused on evidence available for both Spain and Portugal, we were delighted to have a spread of contributions that extended the picture to other territories in the Late Roman West and Mediterranean. The emphasis was very much on the images presented by archaeology (rescue and research works, recent and past), but textual data were also brought into play by various contributors.Urban Transformations in the Late Antique WestAgentsLate antiquityUrban archaeologyUrban transformationsNeil Christieauth778234Pilar Diarte-BlascoauthAndré CarneiroauthBOOK9910404214103321Urban Transformations in the Late Antique West: Materials, Agents, and Models3027838UNINA
