After World War II he played an important role acting as an intermediary between the Vatican, the Red Army, and the Hungarian Catholic Church. After being sent to South America, he was attracted by liberation theology, but left the Society of Jesus, joined the Freemasons, and did social and philanthropic work in the slums of Buenos Aires. However, in the late 1960s he agreed to work for the Hungarian state security service in return for his repatriation. This latter period is reconstructed from the files of the Historical Archives of State Security in Budapest. Éva Petrás writes with empathy but with a sense of distance of the courage and restless energy of her subject. Her discussion of the limits of free choice and Nagy's intense struggle to live a meaningful life make this biography breathtaking"--Provided by publisher.SpiesHungaryBiographyChurch and stateBIOGRAPHY & AUTOBIOGRAPHY / HistoricalbisacshRELIGION / Christianity / HistorybisacshCatholic church history.church diplomacy.communist state security.freemasonry.interwar Hungary.modus vivendi.social questions.SpiesChurch and state.BIOGRAPHY & AUTOBIOGRAPHY / HistoricalRELIGION / Christianity / History327.124390092 BBIO006000REL015000bisacshPetrás Éva1453112Opening the Futurefndhttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/fndMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQ996580168803316The Many Lives of a Jesuit, Freemason, and Philanthropist3655620UNISA03665nam 22005895 450 991034944540332120200705213514.03-030-23261-110.1007/978-3-030-23261-0(CKB)4100000009184969(DE-He213)978-3-030-23261-0(MiAaPQ)EBC5892511(PPN)260302058(EXLCZ)99410000000918496920190905d2019 u| 0engurnn|008mamaatxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierMethanotrophs Microbiology Fundamentals and Biotechnological Applications /edited by Eun Yeol Lee1st ed. 2019.Cham :Springer International Publishing :Imprint: Springer,2019.1 online resource (X, 278 p. 53 illus., 40 illus. in color.) It highlights methanotrophs’ pivotal role in the global carbon cycle, in which they remove methane generated geothermally and by methanogens. Readers will learn how methanotrophs have been employed as biocatalysts for mitigating methane gas and remediating halogenated hydrocarbons in soil and underground water. Recently, methane has also attracted considerable attention as a potential next-generation carbon feedstock for industrial biotechnology, because of its abundance and low price. Methanotrophs can be used as biocatalysts for the production of fuels, chemicals and biomaterials including methanobactin from methane under environmentally benign production conditions. Sharing these and other cutting-edge insights, the book offers a fascinating read for all scientists and students of microbiology and biotechnology.Microbiology Monographs,1862-5576 ;32BacteriologyMicrobiologyMetabolismBotanical chemistryBacteriologyhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L23012Applied Microbiologyhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/C12010Metabolomicshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L15030Plant Biochemistryhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L14021Bacteriology.Microbiology.Metabolism.Botanical chemistry.Bacteriology.Applied Microbiology.Metabolomics.Plant Biochemistry.579.3572.45Lee Eun Yeoledthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtBOOK9910349445403321Methanotrophs2212303UNINA
