Gorban, Jeremy Levesley, Evgeny M. Mirkes, Awaz K. Muhammad1st ed. 2019.Cham :Springer International Publishing :Imprint: Springer,2019.1 online resource (171 pages)3-030-10441-9 1 Introduction: drug use and personality profiles -- 2 Methods of Data Analysis -- 3 Results of data analysis -- Summary -- Discussion -- Main Tables. This book discusses the psychological traits associated with drug consumption through the statistical analysis of a new database with information on 1885 respondents and use of 18 drugs. After reviewing published works on the psychological profiles of drug users and describing the data mining and machine learning methods used, it demonstrates that the personality traits (five factor model, impulsivity, and sensation seeking) together with simple demographic data make it possible to predict the risk of consumption of individual drugs with a sensitivity and specificity above 70% for most drugs. It also analyzes the correlations of use of different substances and describes the groups of drugs with correlated use, identifying significant differences in personality profiles for users of different drugs. The book is intended for advanced undergraduates and first-year PhD students, as well as researchers and practitioners. Although no previous knowledge of machine learning, advanced data mining concepts or modern psychology of personality is assumed, familiarity with basic statistics and some experience in the use of probabilities would be helpful. For a more detailed introduction to statistical methods, the book provides recommendations for undergraduate textbooks.StatisticsĀ PsychometricsData miningBiostatisticsPersonalitySocial psychologyStatistics for Life Sciences, Medicine, Health Scienceshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/S17030Psychometricshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/Y43000Data Mining and Knowledge Discoveryhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I18030Biostatisticshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L15020Personality and Social Psychologyhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/Y20050Statistics for Social Sciences, Humanities, Lawhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/S17040StatisticsĀ .Psychometrics.Data mining.Biostatistics.Personality.Social psychology.Statistics for Life Sciences, Medicine, Health Sciences.Psychometrics.Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery.Biostatistics.Personality and Social Psychology.Statistics for Social Sciences, Humanities, Law.362.29Fehrman Elaineauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut1059589Egan Vincentauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autGorban Alexander Nauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autLevesley Jeremyauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autMirkes Evgeny Mauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autMuhammad Awaz Kauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autBOOK9910338258303321Personality Traits and Drug Consumption2507105UNINA
