Myanmar, the second biggest country in terms of area in mainland South East Asia, borders five neighboring countries: China, Thailand, India, Bangladesh, and Lao PDR. Myanmar's longest borders are with China (approximately 1,357 miles) and Thailand (approximately 1,314 miles), and it shares coastal waters with Malaysia and Singapore. Informal activities and informal moment of goods and people have been quite significant due to many factors. Although various policy measures have been developed to mitigate these informal activities, there has not been any study regarding the sources of these informal activities, their costs and benefits, impacts and consequences of the existence and non-existence of these activities, or how these activities could be mitigated without having significant negative economic and social impacts on the local people and the economy as the whole. This paper attempts to identify factors behind causes and effects of informal flows in goods and persons across the borders between Myanmar and its neighboring countries, especially China and Thailand, and to address related issues and possible policy implications. This paper is a result of various surveys and studies in many places in Myanmar, Lao PDR, Thailand, and China from 2005 to 2009 under several research projects.Informal sector (Economics)Southeast AsiaEconomicsSoutheast AsiaSociological aspectsBorder crossingSoutheast AsiaSoutheast AsiaEmigration and immigrationgoodsnetworksgolden trianglebordersUpper Greater Mekong Subregionsmugglinginformal tradeeconomyunderground economyVietnamparallel economytrafictraffickingInformal sector (Economics)EconomicsSociological aspects.Border crossingThiesmeyer Lynn898447Observatoire des Trafics Illicites.Mekong Anti Trafics.IRASEC.FR-FrMaCLEBOOK9910313025903321Informal and illegal movement in the Upper Greater Mekong Subregion2878530UNINA03212nam 2200541 450 991014864530332120231110232127.00-316-39969-80-316-38857-2(CKB)3710000000921394(MiAaPQ)EBC5363365(Au-PeEL)EBL5363365(OCoLC)953865010(MiAaPQ)EBC6925317(Au-PeEL)EBL6925317(EXLCZ)99371000000092139420221026d2016 uy 1engurcnu||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierThe fall of the dagger /Glenda LarkeNew York, New York :Orbit,[2016]©20161 online resource (434 pages)The Forsaken Lands ;v.The Forsaken Lands0-316-39970-1 Intro -- Title Page -- Welcome -- Dedication -- Maps -- Chapter 1: The Fall of Vavala -- Chapter 2: The Eagle and the Oak -- Chapter 3: Loyalty and Royalty -- Chapter 4: Through a Palace Window -- Chapter 5: On the Run -- Chapter 6: The Prince Besieged -- Chapter 7: Fugitives -- Chapter 8: A Fawn and a Fox -- Chapter 9: The Eagle and Saker -- Chapter 10: Dire Times -- Chapter 11: The Lost Man and the Stolen Princess -- Chapter 12: The Different Man and His Executioner -- Chapter 13: The Heart of an Executioner -- Chapter 14: Caged Dove -- Chapter 15: Lost in Time -- Chapter 16: The Shrine That Wasn't There -- Chapter 17: The Foundations of Treason -- Chapter 18: Inside a Fallen City -- Chapter 19: The Darkest Hour -- Chapter 20: The Biting Gadfly -- Chapter 21: Reunion -- Chapter 22: Prince, Pirate and Ternion -- Chapter 23: Gunpowder and Blood -- Chapter 24: Revelations -- Chapter 25: Aftermath -- Chapter 26: An Assembly of Heroes -- Chapter 27: The Splitting of the Ternion -- Chapter 28: Connections -- Chapter 29: The Rescue Begins -- Chapter 30: Never a Queen -- Chapter 31: Rage -- Chapter 32: Long Live the King -- Chapter 33: Lives Upended -- Chapter 34: The Eve of Battle -- Chapter 35: Stalking the Fox in his Den -- Chapter 36: In the Fox's Den -- Chapter 37: The Price of Victory -- Chapter 38: Uneasy Allies -- Chapter 39: Rebirth -- Chapter 40: Truths from the Past -- Chapter 41: The Splitting of the Ternion -- Chapter 42: Guarding the Future -- Acknowledgements -- Extras -- Meet the Author -- A Preview of "The Last Stormlord -- A Preview of "The Falcon Throne -- By Glenda Larke -- Orbit Newsletter -- Table of Contents -- Copyright.Sorcerers, pirates, and thieves collide in this thrilling conclusion to Glenda Larke's epic fantasy adventure series, The Forsaken Lands. The Forsaken Lands DaggersFictionMagicFictionThievesFictionWizardsFictionDaggersMagicThievesWizards823.92Larke Glenda1207149MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910148645303321The Fall of the Dagger2784534UNINA
