It demonstrated that the crux of the Thai crisis is far more serious and much wider in scope than had previously been thought. The monarchy is surely not a victim in the protracted conflict, but the root cause and continuing factor that has eroded Thai politics. The coup set in motion more prejudicial uses of the lèse-majesté law, and in the process, has led to more political prisoners. It has also shredded the military into several segments, turning generals into desperate royalists who continue to live off the monarchy in order to survive. Issues of violence in the Thai south and the Thai-Cambodian dispute became greatly intensified in the age of militarized politics. The coup also produced unique colour-coded politics and created crises of legitimacy. This book is a collection of essays that reflect developments in Thai politics in the post-coup period.GovernmentPolitical SciencePOLITICAL SCIENCE / American Government / GeneralbisacshThailandPolitics and government21st centuryThailandHistoryCoup d'état, 2006Government.Political Science.POLITICAL SCIENCE / American Government / General.320.9593Chachavalpongpun Pavin, authttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut1026379Pavin ChachavalpongpunInstitute of Southeast Asian Studies,UkCbUPUkCbUPBOOK9910809096703321Good Coup Gone Bad4055973UNINA04135nam 22006855 450 991030040490332120200629182217.03-319-19854-810.1007/978-3-319-19854-5(CKB)3710000000498776(EBL)4068055(SSID)ssj0001584874(PQKBManifestationID)16262845(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001584874(PQKBWorkID)14864568(PQKB)10262744(DE-He213)978-3-319-19854-5(MiAaPQ)EBC4068055(PPN)190531711(EXLCZ)99371000000049877620151027d2015 u| 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrAtomic Diffusion in Stars /by Georges Michaud, Georges Alecian, Jacques Richer1st ed. 2015.Cham :Springer International Publishing :Imprint: Springer,2015.1 online resource (333 p.)Astronomy and Astrophysics Library,0941-7834Description based upon print version of record.3-319-19853-X Includes bibliographical references and index.Preface -- Observational Motivation and Brief History -- Part I: Physics of Transport Processes -- Atomic Transport: Diffusion Equations -- Radiative Accelerations -- Transport Coefficients -- Diffusion in Magnetic Fields -- Light Induced Drift -- Macroscopic Transport Processes -- Part II: Abundance Anomalies in Stellar Evolution -- Upper Main Sequence Stars of Pop I -- Lower Main Sequence Stars of Pop I -- Population II Dwarfs -- Giants -- Horizontal-Branch Stars -- White Dwarfs -- Neutron Stars -- Part III: Appendices -- Evaluation of Collision Integrals -- Definition of the linlog Function -- List of Astronomical Objects -- References -- Index. This book gives an overview of atomic diffusion, a fundamental physical process, as applied to all types of stars, from the main sequence to neutron stars. The superficial abundances of stars as well as their evolution can be significantly affected. The authors show where atomic diffusion plays an essential role and how it can be implemented in modelling.  In Part I, the authors describe the tools that are required to include atomic diffusion in models of stellar interiors and atmospheres. An important role is played by the gradient of partial radiative pressure, or radiative acceleration, which is usually neglected in stellar evolution. In Part II, the authors systematically review the contribution of atomic diffusion to each evolutionary step. The dominant effects of atomic diffusion are accompanied by more subtle effects on a large number of structural properties throughout evolution. One of the goals of this book is to provide the means for the astrophysicist or graduate student to evaluate the importance of atomic diffusion in a given star.Astronomy and Astrophysics Library,0941-7834AstrophysicsNuclear physicsCosmologyAstrophysics and Astroparticleshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P22022Particle and Nuclear Physicshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P23002Cosmologyhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P22049Astrophysics.Nuclear physics.Cosmology.Astrophysics and Astroparticles.Particle and Nuclear Physics.Cosmology.523.01Michaud Georgesauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut792229Alecian Georgesauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autRicher Jacquesauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910300404903321Atomic Diffusion in Stars2503095UNINA
