Abé.A new interpretation of the Jesuit mission to New France is here proposed by using, for comparison and contrast, the earlier Jesuit experience in Japan. In order to present revisionist perspectives of the Jesuit missions based on a broader international framework beyond North America, the existing historical paradigms of the Jesuit missionary activity to Amerindians based on the limited regional history of New France are re-examined. The time period of analysis covers one entire century, from the mid-sixteenth century to the mid-seventeenth century. The Jesuit evangelists used in this analysis include European, mainly Iberian and French, missionaries. The non-European converts dealt with in this discussion are Japanese and Amerindian peoples. The aspects considered for revisions encompass the interpretations of foreign cultures, the basic evangelistic approach of preaching, winning converts and educating them, organising Christian communities and the non-European practice of the religion. The Christian mission in Japan has proved to be a useful tool for these purposes.Studies in the history of Christian tradition ;v. 151.Indians of North AmericaMissionsHistory17th centuryIndians of North AmericaMissionsHistoriographyCanadaHistoryTo 1763 (New France)CanadaHistoryTo 1763 (New France)HistoriographyHistoryEarly Modern History Asian StudiesChristianityIndigenous peoples of the AmericasJapanNew FranceSociety of JesusWyandot peopleIndians of North AmericaMissionsHistoryIndians of North AmericaMissionsHistoriography.971Abé Takao987430MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910169180003321The Jesuit mission to New France2256825UNINA01544nam 22004453a 450 991022001560332120250203235427.09783038424833303842483810.3390/books978-3-03842-483-3(CKB)3800000000216561(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/39840(ScCtBLL)cd4f9c9d-f30b-490c-b201-8bd599bbae23(OCoLC)1048102050(oapen)doab39840(EXLCZ)99380000000021656120250203i20172019 uu engurmn|---annantxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrier100 Years of Chronogeometrodynamics : The Status of The Einstein'S Theory of Gravitation in Its Centennial Year /Lorenzo Iorio, Elias VagenasMDPI - Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute2017Basel, Switzerland :MDPI,2017.1 electronic resource (VIII, 462 p.)9783038424826 303842482X 100 Years of Chronogeometrodynamics: The Status of the Einstein's Theory of Gravitation in Its Centennial YearPhysicsbicsscGeneral Theory of RelativityPhysicsIorio Lorenzo1788040Vagenas EliasScCtBLLScCtBLLBOOK9910220015603321100 Years of Chronogeometrodynamics4322350UNINA
