We estimate a DSGE model with an informal sector, and rigidities in the formal labor and product markets. Along with increasing GDP and employment, deregulation also leads to lower informality and greater product market competition. Slow reallocation of resources between the formal and informal sectors leads to some adverse impacts in the short run that can be minimized by implementing a combined package of reforms. These impacts are shown to be greater in an economy with a larger informal sector.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2016/047Manpower policyIndiaInformal sector (Economics)IndiaLabor marketIndiaMacroeconomicsimfEconomics: GeneralimfInternational EconomicsimfLaborimfFinance: GeneralimfForeign ExchangeimfInformal EconomyimfUnderground EconomimfTrade and Labor Market InteractionsimfOpen Economy MacroeconomicsimfLabor Economics PoliciesimfDemand and Supply of Labor: GeneralimfWages, Compensation, and Labor Costs: GeneralimfUnemployment: Models, Duration, Incidence, and Job SearchimfGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data)imfEconomic & financial crises & disastersimfEconomics of specific sectorsimfLabourimfincome economicsimfFinanceimfFinancial crisesimfEconomic sectorsimfLabor marketsimfWagesimfUnemploymentimfCommodity marketsimfFinancial marketsimfLabor costsimfCurrency crisesimfInformal sectorimfEconomicsimfLabor marketimfCommodity exchangesimfIncome economicsimfIndiaimfManpower policyInformal sector (Economics)Labor marketMacroeconomicsEconomics: GeneralInternational EconomicsLaborFinance: GeneralForeign ExchangeInformal EconomyUnderground EconomTrade and Labor Market InteractionsOpen Economy MacroeconomicsLabor Economics PoliciesDemand and Supply of Labor: GeneralWages, Compensation, and Labor Costs: GeneralUnemployment: Models, Duration, Incidence, and Job SearchGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data)Economic & financial crises & disastersEconomics of specific sectorsLabourincome economicsFinanceFinancial crisesEconomic sectorsLabor marketsWagesUnemploymentCommodity marketsFinancial marketsLabor costsCurrency crisesInformal sectorEconomicsLabor marketCommodity exchangesIncome economics331.110954Anand Rahul1107318Khera Purva1450951DcWaIMFBOOK9910165037103321Macroeconomic Impact of Product and Labor Market Reforms on Informality and Unemployment in India3650694UNINA
