The IMF helped design and implement a foreign currency auction by the Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM), as a first step to develop foreign currency price discovery and replace a heavily regulated formal market segmented from informal markets, with the ultimate objective of creating a unified market. Key achievements have included new legislation to establish an autonomous CBM with clearer authority for licensing, supervision and regulation of banks, and monetary policy, in line with a new mandate for price and financial stability. Significant progress has also been made in bank supervision.IMF Staff Country Reports; Country Report ;No. 2017/031Natural resourcesBurmaFiscal policyMoney and Monetary PolicyimfInternational EconomicsimfNatural DisastersimfBanks and BankingimfFinance: GeneralimfEnvironmental EconomicsimfPublic FinanceimfMonetary PolicyimfInternational Agreements and ObservanceimfInternational OrganizationsimfClimateimfNatural Disasters and Their ManagementimfGlobal WarmingimfBanksimfDepository InstitutionsimfMicro Finance InstitutionsimfMortgagesimfAggregate Factor Income DistributionimfFinancial Markets and the MacroeconomyimfInvestmentimfCapitalimfIntangible CapitalimfCapacityimfMonetary economicsimfInternational institutionsimfMacroeconomicsimfNatural disastersimfBankingimfFinanceimfClimate changeimfMonetary policyimfInternational organizationimfEnvironmentimfState-owned banksimfFinancial institutionsimfFinancial inclusionimfFinancial marketsimfInfrastructureimfNational accountsimfInternational agenciesimfBanks and bankingimfFinancial services industryimfClimatic changesimfFiscal policyimfMyanmarimfNatural resourcesFiscal policy.Money and Monetary PolicyInternational EconomicsNatural DisastersBanks and BankingFinance: GeneralEnvironmental EconomicsPublic FinanceMonetary PolicyInternational Agreements and ObservanceInternational OrganizationsClimateNatural Disasters and Their ManagementGlobal WarmingBanksDepository InstitutionsMicro Finance InstitutionsMortgagesAggregate Factor Income DistributionFinancial Markets and the MacroeconomyInvestmentCapitalIntangible CapitalCapacityMonetary economicsInternational institutionsMacroeconomicsNatural disastersBankingFinanceClimate changeMonetary policyInternational organizationEnvironmentState-owned banksFinancial institutionsFinancial inclusionFinancial marketsInfrastructureNational accountsInternational agenciesBanks and bankingFinancial services industryClimatic changesFiscal policy338.9591DcWaIMFBOOK9910165035703321Myanmar1949128UNINA
