The analysis reveals that the Madagascar’s banking sector is exposed to significant risks, though it has certain buffers, such as high profitability and a stable deposit base. Currently the economy is recovering, and enjoys the prospect of resumption in inflows of foreign aid and investment; inflation is coming down and the balance of payments has strengthened. Banking supervision is not yet able to proactively detect and address emerging risks; doing so will require additional resources and political will. Efforts are also needed to promote financial deepening and inclusion, consistent with the maintenance of stability and consumer protection.IMF Staff Country Reports; Country Report ;No. 2016/377Economic developmentBanks and BankingimfMoney and Monetary PolicyimfIndustries: Financial ServicesimfBanksimfDepository InstitutionsimfMicro Finance InstitutionsimfMortgagesimfMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: GeneralimfFinancing PolicyimfFinancial Risk and Risk ManagementimfCapital and Ownership StructureimfValue of FirmsimfGoodwillimfBankingimfMonetary economicsimfFinanceimfFinancial services law & regulationimfCreditimfLoansimfOperational riskimfCommercial banksimfMoneyimfFinancial institutionsimfFinancial regulation and supervisionimfCredit riskimfBanks and bankingimfFinancial risk managementimfMadagascar, Republic ofimfEconomic development.Banks and BankingMoney and Monetary PolicyIndustries: Financial ServicesBanksDepository InstitutionsMicro Finance InstitutionsMortgagesMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: GeneralFinancing PolicyFinancial Risk and Risk ManagementCapital and Ownership StructureValue of FirmsGoodwillBankingMonetary economicsFinanceFinancial services law & regulationCreditLoansOperational riskCommercial banksMoneyFinancial institutionsFinancial regulation and supervisionCredit riskBanks and bankingFinancial risk management338.9DcWaIMFBOOK9910157525003321Republic of Madagascar2620371UNINA
