Tipping points may be dangerous for societies and economies, especially if the prevailing governing arrangements are not designed either to anticipate them or adapt to their arrival. Tipping points can also be transformational of cultures and behaviours so that societies can learn to adapt and to alter their outlooks and mores in favour of accommodating to more sustainable ways of living. This volume examines scientific, economic and social analyses of tipping points, and the spiritual and creative approaches to identifying and anticipating them. The authors focus on climate change, ice melt, tropical forest drying and alterations in oceanic and atmospheric circulations. They also look closely at various aspects of human use of the planet, especially food production, and at the loss of biodiversity, where alterations to natural cycles may be creating convulsive couplings of tipping points. They survey the various institutional aspects of politics, economics, culture and religion to see why such dangers persist.British Academy original paperback.Social stabilitySocial aspectsSocial changeSocial aspectsSocial evolutionClimatic changesSocial aspectsFood securitySocial aspectsSociology & Social HistoryHILCCSocial SciencesHILCCSocial ChangeHILCCSocial stabilitySocial aspectsSocial changeSocial aspectsSocial evolutionClimatic changesSocial aspects.Food securitySocial aspects. This book is the first volume of the exhaustive publication of the excavations carried out in Boussargues, located near Montpellier and a majorsite of the Fontbouisse Chalcolithic culture (2500 BC). It includes the study of the natural and cultural surrounding of the site, and the study of the achieved excavation of the West area and its three habitations. The architecture of the buildings, the organization of the domestic space and the settlement in its natural and economical context are the three major orientations. Thanks to a versatile research team, the conclusions drawn are a fundamental contribution to the understanding of the Neolithic cultures from Southern France.Boussargues Archaeologyhabitatculture matériellecéramiquemobilierChalcolithiqueanthracologieBoussarguesculture de Fontbouissehabitatculture matériellecéramiquemobilierChalcolithiqueanthracologieBoussarguesculture de FontbouisseArchaeologyhabitatculture matériellecéramiquemobilierChalcolithiqueanthracologieBoussarguesculture de FontbouisseColomer Albert171283Coularou Jacques171284Gutherz Xavier171285Antipolis Sophia1288804archéologiques ERA 36 du centre de recherches1288805Balbure Jean1288806Carrère Isabelle1288807CNRS UPR 290 du1288808CNRS Xavier Gutherz1288809Colomer Albert171283Coularou Jacques171284Damais Laurent1288810Echallier Jean‑Claude1288811Erroux Jean83175Figueiral Isabel1288812géographie Institut de1288813géomorphologie Martine AmbertLaboratoire de1288814Gutherz Xavier171285Henaff Sylvain1288815III Montpellier1288816Jallot Luc1288817Languedoc‑Roussillon 06565 Valbonne cedex et Direction des Antiquités du1288818Languedoc‑Roussillon Albert Colomer Direction des Antiquités du1288819Marchesi Henri1288820Mende route de1288821Mills Nigel627435Montpellier 340001288822rurales Jacques Coularou Centre d’anthropologie des sociétés1288823Salle‑l’Evêque 5 bis rue de la1288824Taur 56 rue du1288825Toulouse 310001288826Valéry université Paul1288827Vallon Jacques1288828Vernet Jean‑Louis1288829FR-FrMaCLEBOOK9910573704503321Boussargues (Argelliers, Hérault)3020993UNINA01983nam 22005775u 450 991015747150332120211006144738.097833180365413318036544(CKB)3780000000101087(OCoLC)1046108282(SZ-BaSKA)218834(MiAaPQ)EBC31867065(Au-PeEL)EBL31867065(EXLCZ)99378000000010108720211006d1981 uy 0engurunu|||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierACTH and LPH in Health and Disease / editors, T.B. van Wimersma Greidanus, L.H.
