Concluding Reflections: No Saviour from on High?.This book explores how the communist cult of the individual was not just a Soviet phenomenon but an international one. When Stalin died in 1953, the communists of all countries united in mourning the figure that was the incarnation of their cause. Though its international character was one of the distinguishing features of the communist cult of personality, this is the first extended study to approach the phenomenon over the longer period of its development in a truly transnational and comparative perspective. Crucially it is concerned with the internationalisation of the Soviet cults of Lenin and Stalin. But it also ranges across different periods and national cases to consider a wider cast of bureaucrats, tribunes, heroes and martyrs who symbolised both resistance to oppression and the tyranny of the party-state. Through studying the disparate ways in which the cults were manifested, Kevin Morgan not only takes in many of the leading personalities of the communist movement, but alsosome of the cultural luminaries like Picasso and Barbusse who sought to represent them. The cult of the individual was one of the most fascinating, troubling and revealing features of Stalinist communism, and as reconstructed here it offers new insight into one of the defining political movements of the twentieth century.History, ModernRussiaHistoryEurope, EasternHistorySoviet UnionHistoryCivilizationHistoryModern HistoryRussian, Soviet, and East European HistoryCultural HistoryHistory, Modern.RussiaHistory.Europe, EasternHistory.Soviet UnionHistory.CivilizationHistory.Modern History.Russian, Soviet, and East European History.Cultural History.909.08Morgan Kevinauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut146919BOOK9910157400903321International Communism and the Cult of the Individual2276591UNINA03076nam 22005535 450 991033765830332120251230064957.03-030-04209-X10.1007/978-3-030-04209-7(CKB)4100000007158845(MiAaPQ)EBC5601976(DE-He213)978-3-030-04209-7(PPN)232474427(EXLCZ)99410000000715884520181119d2019 u| 0engurcnu||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierComplex Systems Design & Management Proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Complex Systems Design & Management, CSD&M Paris 2018 /edited by Eric Bonjour, Daniel Krob, Luca Palladino, François Stephan1st ed. 2019.Cham :Springer International Publishing :Imprint: Springer,2019.1 online resource (257 pages)3-030-04208-1 This book contains all refereed papers accepted during the ninth edition of the conference that took place at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris on December 18-19, 2018. Mastering complex systems requires an integrated understanding of industrial practices as well as sophisticated theoretical techniques and tools. This explains the creation of an annual go-between forum in Paris dedicated to academic researchers & industrial actors working on complex industrial systems architecture, modeling & engineering. These proceedings cover the most recent trends in the emerging field of Complex Systems, both from an academic and a professional perspective. A special focus is put on “Products & services development in a digital world”. The CSD&M Paris 2018 conference is organized under the guidance of CESAM Community (http://cesam.community/en). CESAM Community has been developed since 2010 by the non-profit organization CESAMES Association to organize the sharing of good practices in Enterprise and Systems Architecture and to certify the level of knowledge and proficiency in this field through CESAM certification.DynamicsNonlinear theoriesAutomatic controlRoboticsAutomationApplied Dynamical SystemsControl, Robotics, AutomationDynamics.Nonlinear theories.Automatic control.Robotics.Automation.Applied Dynamical Systems.Control, Robotics, Automation.004.21Bonjour Ericedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtKrob Danieledthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtPalladino Lucaedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtStephan Françoisedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtBOOK9910337658303321Complex Systems Design & Management1412320UNINA
