IMF Staff Country Reports9781475553826 147555382X This Selected Issues paper discusses measures taken to enable timely macroprudential action in Sweden. The Swedish financial supervisory authority has adopted a number of macroprudential measures under its mandates for financial stability and consumer protection. The supervisory authority imposed a loan-to-value limit of 85 percent for new mortgage loans in 2010, with the soundness principle as the legal basis for this measure. Under its financial stability mandate, it also set a floor on risk weights for Swedish mortgages, which was raised from 15 percent to 25 percent in September 2014. Following an expansion of the regulatory toolkit, a range of capital buffers have also been established and subsequently expanded.IMF Staff Country Reports; Country Report ;No. 2016/354Banks and BankingimfFinance: GeneralimfForeign ExchangeimfMacroeconomicsimfMoney and Monetary PolicyimfGeneral Financial Markets: Government Policy and RegulationimfFinancial Markets and the MacroeconomyimfBanksimfDepository InstitutionsimfMicro Finance InstitutionsimfMortgagesimfPortfolio ChoiceimfInvestment DecisionsimfFinancial Institutions and Services: Government Policy and RegulationimfFinanceimfCurrencyimfForeign exchangeimfBankingimfFinancial services law & regulationimfMonetary economicsimfFinancial sector stabilityimfMacroprudential policyimfMacroprudential policy instrumentsimfFinancial sector policy and analysisimfLiquidityimfAsset and liability managementimfFinancial services industryimfEconomic policyimfFinancial risk managementimfBanks and bankingimfEconomicsimfSwedenimfBanks and BankingFinance: GeneralForeign ExchangeMacroeconomicsMoney and Monetary PolicyGeneral Financial Markets: Government Policy and RegulationFinancial Markets and the MacroeconomyBanksDepository InstitutionsMicro Finance InstitutionsMortgagesPortfolio ChoiceInvestment DecisionsFinancial Institutions and Services: Government Policy and RegulationFinanceCurrencyForeign exchangeBankingFinancial services law & regulationMonetary economicsFinancial sector stabilityMacroprudential policyMacroprudential policy instrumentsFinancial sector policy and analysisLiquidityAsset and liability managementFinancial services industryEconomic policyFinancial risk managementBanks and bankingEconomicsDcWaIMFBOOK9910155013003321Sweden1570011UNINA
