IMF Staff Country Reports1-4755-5336-6 This paper discusses Jamaica’s Request for Stand By Arrangement (SBA) and Cancellation of the Current Extended Arrangement Under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF). Fiscal discipline and proactive debt management have helped reduce public debt by more than 25 percent of GDP since the start of the extended arrangement under the EFF. Macroeconomic stability is becoming entrenched as evidenced by low inflation, the buildup of foreign currency reserves, and a decline in the current account deficit. Important reforms are also being undertaken to unlock Jamaica’s growth potential. In view of the country’s recent track record and authorities’ commitment to reforms and maintaining an open dialog with the IMF, the IMF staff supports the request for the precautionary SBA.IMF Staff Country Reports; Country Report ;No. 2016/350Banks and BankingimfMacroeconomicsimfPublic FinanceimfDebtimfDebt ManagementimfSovereign DebtimfPublic EnterprisesimfPublic-Private EnterprisesimfPublic AdministrationimfPublic Sector Accounting and AuditsimfNational Government Expenditures and Related Policies: GeneralimfCentral Banks and Their PoliciesimfPublic finance & taxationimfCivil service & public sectorimfFinancial administration & public finance lawimfBankingimfPublic debtimfPublic sectorimfPFM legal and regulatory frameworksimfExpenditureimfOpen market operationsimfEconomic sectorsimfPublic financial management (PFM)imfCentral banksimfDebts, PublicimfFinance, PublicimfLaw and legislationimfExpenditures, PublicimfPfm legal and regulatory frameworksimfJamaicaimfBanks and BankingMacroeconomicsPublic FinanceDebtDebt ManagementSovereign DebtPublic EnterprisesPublic-Private EnterprisesPublic AdministrationPublic Sector Accounting and AuditsNational Government Expenditures and Related Policies: GeneralCentral Banks and Their PoliciesPublic finance & taxationCivil service & public sectorFinancial administration & public finance lawBankingPublic debtPublic sectorPFM legal and regulatory frameworksExpenditureOpen market operationsEconomic sectorsPublic financial management (PFM)Central banksDebts, PublicFinance, PublicLaw and legislationExpenditures, PublicPfm legal and regulatory frameworksDcWaIMFBOOK9910155012903321Jamaica2610030UNINA
