The results suggest that the deterioration in asset quality can be attributed to both macroeconomic and bank-specific factors. Banks with stronger profitability and lower exposure to the construction sector and household loans tend to have lower NPLs. Further, some evidence indicates that foreign owned banks systematically have lower NPLs than domestic banks, pointing to the presence of important differences across bank practices with an impact on asset quality. Finally, the results emphasize the strength of macrofinancial feedback loops in the ECCU.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2016/229Banks and BankingimfMoney and Monetary PolicyimfIndustries: Financial ServicesimfBusiness FluctuationsimfCyclesimfFinancial Markets and the MacroeconomyimfMoney SupplyimfCreditimfMoney MultipliersimfBanksimfDepository InstitutionsimfMicro Finance InstitutionsimfMortgagesimfMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: GeneralimfFinanceimfBankingimfMonetary economicsimfNonperforming loansimfForeign banksimfLoansimfFinancial institutionsimfMoneyimfCommercial banksimfBanks and banking, ForeignimfBanks and bankingimfCaribbean AreaEconomic conditionsGrenadaimfBanks and BankingMoney and Monetary PolicyIndustries: Financial ServicesBusiness FluctuationsCyclesFinancial Markets and the MacroeconomyMoney SupplyCreditMoney MultipliersBanksDepository InstitutionsMicro Finance InstitutionsMortgagesMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: GeneralFinanceBankingMonetary economicsNonperforming loansForeign banksLoansFinancial institutionsMoneyCommercial banksBanks and banking, ForeignBanks and banking338.9729Beaton Kimberly1379358Myrvoda Alla1206799Thompson Shernnel1451316DcWaIMFBOOK9910155012603321Non-Performing Loans in the ECCU3651449UNINA
