Resolving the International Debt Crisis --Contributors --Name Index --Subject IndexFor dozens of developing countries, the financial upheavals of the 1980's have set back economic development by a decade or more. Poverty in those countries have intensified as they struggle under the burden of an enormous external debt. In 1988, more than six years after the onset of the crisis, almost all the debtor countries were still unable to borrow in the international capital markets on normal terms. Moreover, the world financial system has been disrupted by the prospect of widespread defaults on those debts. Because of the urgency of the present crisis, and because similar crises have recurred intermittently for at least 175 years, it is important to understand the fundamental features of the international macroeconomy and global financial markets that have contributed to this repeated instability. Developing Country Debt and the World Economy contains nontechnical versions of papers prepared under the auspices of the project on developing country debt, sponsored by the National Bureau of Economic Research. The project focuses on the middle-income developing countries, particularly those in Latin America and East Asia, although many lessons of the study should apply as well to other, poorer debtor countries. The contributors analyze the crisis from two perspectives, that of the international financial system as a whole and that of individual debtor countries. Studies of eight countries-Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, the Philippines, South Korea, and Turkey-explore the question of why some countries succumbed to serious financial crises while other did not. Each study was prepared by a team of two authors-a U.S.-based research and an economist from the country under study. An additional eight papers approach the problem of developing country debt from a global or "systemic" perspective. The topics they cover include the history of international sovereign lending and previous debt crises, the political factors that contribute to poor economic policies in many debtor nations, the role of commercial banks and the International Monetary Fund during the current crisis, the links between debt in developing countries and economic policies in the industrialized nations, and possible new approaches to the global management of the crisis.National Bureau of Economic Research project report.Debts, ExternalDeveloping countriesInternational financeElectronic books.Debts, ExternalInternational finance.336.3/435/091724336.3435091724Sachs Jeffrey120952MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910450824903321Developing country debt and the world economy847160UNINA02492nam 2200553 a 450 991013903330332120200520144314.01-118-57660-81-118-57661-61-299-44947-61-118-57659-4(CKB)2550000001018512(EBL)1162083(DLC) 2013007644(Au-PeEL)EBL1162083(CaPaEBR)ebr10683255(CaONFJC)MIL476197(MiAaPQ)EBC1162083(OCoLC)828334139(PPN)187192537(EXLCZ)99255000000101851220130221d2013 uy 0engur|n|---|||||rdacontentrdamediardacarrierWireless communications[electronic resource] algorithmic techniques /Giorgio M. In einem Spannungsbogen, der sich über 150 Jahre hinzieht, lässt Schaumann den Leser miterleben, wie Darwins revolutionäre Theorie allen gegen sie vorgebrachten Argumenten getrotzt hat und sich gegen sämtliche Alternativtheorien immNaturalistsGreat BritainBiographyEvolution (Biology)NaturalistsEvolution (Biology)575.0092576.8092Schaumann Wolfgang1926-1604119MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910830093803321Charles Darwin3928813UNINA05454nam 2200685 450 991082093940332120230912132010.01-118-91638-71-119-20944-71-118-91639-5(CKB)3710000000335344(EBL)1918466(SSID)ssj0001440561(PQKBManifestationID)11804103(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001440561(PQKBWorkID)11390742(PQKB)10628445(Au-PeEL)EBL1918466(CaPaEBR)ebr11004528(CaONFJC)MIL690609(OCoLC)900345735(CaSebORM)9781118916377(MiAaPQ)EBC1918466(MiAaPQ)EBC4434911(EXLCZ)99371000000033534420150124h20152015 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrSustainability policy hastening the transition to a cleaner economy /Steven Cohen, William Eimicke, Allison Miller1st editionHoboken, New Jersey :John Wiley & Sons,2015.©20151 online resource (291 p.)Description based upon print version of record.1-118-91637-9 Includes bibliographical references and index.Sustainability Policy: Hastening the Transition to a Cleaner Economy; Contents; Preface: The Role of Government in the Transition to a Sustainable Economy; Acknowledgments; Chapter 1: What is Sustainability Management?; Introduction; The Challenges of Sustainability; Sustainability Management; The Evolution of the Environmental Movement; The Sustainability Perspective; Evolution of Organizational Management; The Growing Momentum behind Sustainability Management; The Expansion of Corporate Sustainability; Sustainable Cities; Measuring Sustainability; Toward a Sustainable, Renewable EconomyChapter 2: Why We Need Sustainability Public PolicyIntroduction; The Need for a Renewable Energy Economy; The Different Functions of the Public, Private, and Nonprofit Sectors; Limitations of the Private Sector in Addressing Long-Term Sustainability; Role of the Government in Building a Sustainable Economy; Funding Basic Science; Funding Infrastructure; Providing Incentives for Private Investment; Setting and Enforcing Rules to Protect the Environment; Sustainability Metrics and Management; Transferring Technology to the Developing World; Public-Private PartnershipsWorking to Ensure the Transition is Well ManagedChapter 3: Policy Levers for Sustainability; Introduction; What Is Working?; Public Investment and Spending; Investment in Scientific Research and Development; Public Procurement; Case Study: Defense Investments in Clean-Energy Technology; Market-Based Tools; Case Study: The Production Tax Credit; Cap and Trade or Tradable Pollution Permit Systems; Regulations and Standards; What Is Not Working?; Fossil Fuel Industry Support; All of the Above Energy Policy; Regulatory Capture and Regulatory FailureCase Study: Regulatory Capture in the Minerals Management ServiceFederal Regulatory Failure; What Is Possible?; Taxes; Cap and Trade; Case Study: the European Union Emissions Trading System; Infrastructure; High-Speed Rail; Electrification of Vehicle Transportation; The Smart Grid; The Promise of Federally Led Sustainability; Chapter 4: Policy Levers for Sustainability; Introduction; Energy Policies; Regulatory Tools and Standards; Regional Cap and Trade Systems; Case Study: California's Cap and Trade; Renewable Portfolio Standards; Energy Efficiency Resource Standards; Building CodesGrid StandardsFeed-In Tariffs; Financial Tools and Mechanisms; Tax Credits, Rebates, and Subsidies; Public Benefit Funds; Case Study: New York Systems Benefit Charge; Green Banks; On-Bill Financing; Property Assessed Clean Energy; Transportation Policies; Emission Standards; Fuel Efficiency; Transportation and Climate Initiative; Climate Adaptation and Infrastructure Policies; Climate Adaptation Planning; Energy Infrastructure; Water and Wastewater Infrastructure; Facilitating Innovation; Chapter 5: Policy Levers for Sustainability; Introduction; Why Cities? Why Are Cities Taking the Lead in Sustainability?A complete guide to sustainability policy at the federal, state, and local levels Sustainability Policy: Hastening the Transition to a Cleaner Economy is a fundamental guide for public sector professionals new to sustainability policy development, implementation, strategy, and practice. Information is first presented on classification, epidemiology, and etiopathogenesis. Diagnosis is then explained in detail, covering the significance of anamnestic data, physical examination, differential diagnosis, instrumental examinations, and anthropometric measurements. Preventive measures such as “tummy time” and physiotherapy are described, and the role of orthoses, osteopathy, and surgery in treatment is closely examined. The closing chapter addresses prognosis and complications. Positional plagiocephaly is not only a "cosmetic" problem but can cause facial and mandibular asymmetry, visual disturbances, and cognitive and psychomotor impairment, yet when correctly treated it usually resolves by 6-7 years of age. This book will be an ideal aid for pediatricians, neurosurgeons, maxillo-facial surgeons, orthopedic physicians, physiotherapists, and for all involved in preventing and managing the condition.OrthopedicsNervous systemSurgeryObstetricsMaternal and child health servicesMedical rehabilitationChildrenSurgeryConservative Orthopedicshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H45019Neurosurgeryhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H39000Obstetrics/Perinatology/Midwiferyhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H26014Maternal and Child Healthhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H27025Rehabilitation Medicinehttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H55030Pediatric Surgeryhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H59079Orthopedics.Nervous systemSurgery.Obstetrics.Maternal and child health services.Medical rehabilitation.ChildrenSurgery.Conservative Orthopedics.Neurosurgery.Obstetrics/Perinatology/Midwifery.Maternal and Child Health.Rehabilitation Medicine.Pediatric Surgery.610613616.7617.03Villani Donataedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtMeraviglia Maria Vittoriaedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtBOOK9910300062903321Positional Plagiocephaly1522539UNINA02379oas 2200901 a 450 991014555820332120251106213014.01468-4004(DE-599)ZDB2016069-0(DE-599)2016069-0(OCoLC)46686009(CONSER) 2001229224(CKB)954925620163(EXLCZ)9995492562016320010408a19979999 sy engur|||||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierAstronomy & geophysics the journal of the Royal Astronomical SocietyBristol, UK Produced for the Royal Astronomical Society by Institute of Physics Pub[Hoboken, NJ] John Wiley & Sons LtdPrint version: Astronomy & geophysics 1366-8781 (DLC) 97659062 (OCoLC)36405653 Astronomy and geophysicsA & GAstronomyPeriodicalsGeophysicsPeriodicalsAstronomiePériodiquesGéophysiquePériodiquesAstronomyfast(OCoLC)fst00819673Geophysicsfast(OCoLC)fst00941002SterrenkundegttGeofysicagttPopular Science and NatureukslcPeriodicals.fastPeriodicals.lcgftAstronomyGeophysicsAstronomieGéophysiqueAstronomy.Geophysics.Sterrenkunde.Geofysica.Popular Science and Nature.Royal Astronomical Society,Synergy, Inc.,AZNAZNFUGOCLCQOCLCSEQOOCLCQCITBUFOCLCQOCLCFOCLCOVT2OCLCEOCLCQEUWOCLCQCGUOCLCQUBYOCLCOOCLCQUABSFBOCLCLOCLCQJOURNAL9910145558203321Astronomy & geophysics2034921UNINA
