It is now widely believed, in fact, that these texts, traditionally outside the traditional canon, can provide an interesting perspective to reinterpret the literature of the Imperial Age and to get a deeper understanding of the Roman legal mind and of ancient imagery in general. This collection of essays seeks to address the Declamationes Minores from different points of view. Not only does it analyse the specific features of the text as a schoolbook, but it also tries to highlight the contiguity of fictitious speeches with the literary tradition and the legal and philosophical culture of the time. The volume is a useful tool to explore little-known texts, which nevertheless constitute an effective access point to the imagery of the Imperial Age.Beiträge zur Altertumskunde ;Band 361.Rhetoric, AncientOratoryRhetoric, Ancient.Oratory.808.00938FX 222105rvkCasamento Alfredo623552Mal-Maeder D. vanPasetti LuciaMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK996331949903316Le declamazioni Minori dello Pseudo-Quintiliano2617350UNISA02471nam 2200577 a 450 991078103850332120230721005732.01-282-48794-997866124879411-59403-355-2(CKB)2550000000006166(EBL)478749(OCoLC)609854312(SSID)ssj0000363364(PQKBManifestationID)11925524(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000363364(PQKBWorkID)10387971(PQKB)11130592(MiAaPQ)EBC478749(Au-PeEL)EBL478749(CaPaEBR)ebr10330810(CaONFJC)MIL248794(EXLCZ)99255000000000616620081112d2009 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrMortal follies[electronic resource] Episcopalians and the crisis of mainline Christianity /William Murchison1st American ed.New York Encounter Books20091 online resource (224 p.)Description based upon print version of record.1-59403-230-0 Includes bibliographical references and index.Prelude -- Sunset and evening star -- Love in the ruins -- We few, we happy few -- We shall overcome -- Lord have mercy upon us -- Womanpower -- Pleased as man with us to dwell -- Sex, anyone? -- Gay times -- Lighten our darkness. It's not that the dignified and rarefied old Episcopal Church quit believing in God. It's that the God you increasingly hear spoken of in Episcopal circles is infinitely tolerant and given to sudden changes of mind--not quite the divinity you thought you were reading about in the scriptures. Episcopalians of the twenty-first century, like their counterparts in other churches of the so-called American mainline--such as Methodists and Presbyterians--seem to prefer a God that the culture would be proud of, as against a culture that God would be proud of.
