The new, semi-governmental Swedish Institute was charged with explaining Sweden's policy of neutrality during the war, with encouraging peace-building, and with promoting foreign trade in the new international world order. Original and insightful, this account analyzes the policies, funding, and national narratives of the Swedish Institute. Planar antennas are the most appropriate type of antenna in modern communication systems and more generally in all applications requiring miniaturization, integration and conformation such as in mobile phone handsets. The book is suitable for students, engineers and scientists eager to understand the principles of planar and small antennas, their design and fabrication issues, and modern aspects such as UWB antennas, reconISTEAntennas (Electronics)Design and constructionWireless communication systemsAntennas (Electronics)Design and construction.Wireless communication systems.621.384/135621.384135Laheurte Jean-Marc855866Laheurte Jean-Marc855866MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910141494403321Compact antennas for wireless communications and terminals2002611UNINA03721nam 2200721 450 991078710570332120230803210607.00-8014-7017-X0-8014-7018-810.7591/9780801470189(CKB)3710000000311098(OCoLC)897810679(CaPaEBR)ebrary10993843(SSID)ssj0001382528(PQKBManifestationID)12536679(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001382528(PQKBWorkID)11459602(PQKB)10861547(StDuBDS)EDZ0001516491(MiAaPQ)EBC3138687(MdBmJHUP)muse37663(DE-B1597)478652(OCoLC)979744040(DE-B1597)9780801470189(Au-PeEL)EBL3138687(CaPaEBR)ebr10993843(CaONFJC)MIL751611(EXLCZ)99371000000031109820141220h20142014 uy 0engur|||||||||||txtccrCreating Kosovo international oversight and the making of ethical institutions /Elton SkendajWashington, District of Columbia ;Ithaca, New York :Woodrow Wilson Center Press :Cornell University Press,2014.©20141 online resource (241 p.)A Woodrow Wilson Center Press BookBibliographic Level Mode of Issuance: Monograph1-336-20325-0 0-8014-5294-5 Includes bibliographical references and index.Front matter --Contents --List of Tables --List of Figures --Preface --List of Abbreviations --1. Creating Constituencies for State Building and Democratization --References --IndexIn shaping the institutions of a new country, what interventions from international actors lead to success and failure? Elton Skendaj's investigation into Kosovo, based on national survey data, interviews, and focus groups conducted over ten months of fieldwork, leads to some surprising answers. Creating Kosovo highlights efforts to build the police force, the central government, courts, and a customs service. Skendaj finds that central administration and the courts, which had been developed under local authority, succumbed to cronyism and corruption, challenging the premise that local "ownership" leads to more effective state bureaucracies. The police force and customs service, directly managed by international actors, were held to a meritocratic standard, fulfilling their missions and winning public respect. On the other hand, local participation and contestation supported democratic institutions. When international actors supported the demobilization of popular movements, they undermined the ability of the public to hold elected officials accountable.Nation-buildingKosovo (Republic)DemocratizationKosovo (Republic)DemocracyKosovo (Republic)International agenciesKosovo (Republic)Kosovo (Republic)Politics and government2008-Nation-buildingDemocratizationDemocracyInternational agencies949.71Skendaj Elton1579998MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910787105703321Creating Kosovo3860521UNINA
