These administrators were the brokers of development. After graduating from the School for Indigenous Administrators (OSIBA) they served in the Dutch administration until 1962. The period 1962-1969 stands out as turbulent and dangerous, and for many curtailed their professional careers. These administrators' having been in active service until their retirement in the early 1990s allows for a complete recounting of political and administrative transformations under the Indonesian governance of Irian Jaya/Papua.This book brings together 17 oral histories of the everyday life of Papuan civil servants, including their relationships with superiors and colleagues, the murder of a Dutch administrator, their translation of 'development' to the Papuan people, the organization of their first democratic institutions, and the actual political and economic conditions leading up to the so-called Act of Free Choice. Finally, they share their experiences in the UNTEA and Indonesian government organization.Leontine Visser is Professor of Development Anthropology at Wageningen University. Her research focuses on governance and natural resources management in eastern Indonesia.Indigenous peoplesPapua New GuineaPolitics and governmentCivil servicePapua New GuineaOral historyPapua New GuineaPapua New GuineaPolitics and governmentpublic administrationpapuapolitical historypost-colonial politicsindigenous administratorsnew guineaAdatBiakIndonesiaJayapuraNetherlandsWestern New GuineaIndigenous peoplesPolitics and government.Civil serviceOral history995.3/04Visser Leontineauth801819Visser Leontine E.MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910141387803321Governing New Guinea3358426UNINA02233nam 2200529 450 991079422310332120220619223707.01-68247-545-X(CKB)4100000011624717EBL6270200(AU-PeEL)EBL6270200(MiAaPQ)EBC6270200(EXLCZ)99410000001162471720220619d2020 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierAirpower over Gallipoli, 1915-1916 /Sterling Michael PavelecAnnapolis, Maryland :Naval Institute Press,[2020]©20201 online resource (240 p.)History of military aviationDescription based upon print version of record.1-61251-023-X Includes bibliographical references and index. The Birth of Airpower -- Preparations for the War in the Mediterranean -- The Dardanelles Naval Campaign -- The Gallipoli Landings -- Summer over Gallipoli -- Suvla Bay and the End of the Summer -- Autumn over Gallipoli -- The Evacuation and End of the Gallipoli Campaign -- Campaign Evaluations and Lessons Learned.Based on extensive archival research, Sterling Michael Pavelec recounts the adventures of the handful of aviators and their aircraft during the Gallipoli Campaign.History of military aviation.World War, 1914-1918CampaignsTurkeyGallipoli PeninsulaWorld War, 1914-1918TurkeyGallipoli PeninsulaAerial operationsWorld War, 1914-1918Aerial operationsCombined operations (Military science)World War, 1914-1918CampaignsWorld War, 1914-1918Aerial operations.World War, 1914-1918Aerial operations.Combined operations (Military science)940.426Pavelec Sterling Michael1516556MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910794223103321Airpower over Gallipoli, 1915-19163758295UNINA
