Paleography -- Appendix B. Indices and BibliographyThe University of Minnesota Eastern Desert Expedition had its beginnings in 1975, when co-authors George (Rip) Rapp, T. H. Wertime, and J. D. Muhly visited cassiterite (tin ore) mines in the southern Eastern Desert of Egypt. Near the farthest west of these mines, they were shown a group of pharaonic inscriptions by M. F. el-Ramly of the Egyptian Geological Survey and Mining Authority. The inscriptions were photographed, and the photos were given to an Egyptologist to translate. Much later, in 1991, senior author Russell D. Rothe read about the photos in a footnote in an unrelated article. After obtaining copies of the photos from Rapp, he translated the inscriptions with the help of co-author William K. Miller and others. Over the next decade, Rothe, Rapp, and Miller traversed the 60,000-sq.-km area between the Nile and the Red Sea, mostly on foot, photographing inscriptions and systematically surveying the entire region. The results of their investigations of the inscriptional remains found in this vast, mountainous desert are here published for the first time; the corpus will be an important addition to our knowledge of the range and scope of the activities of the ancient Egyptians, especially outside the Nile Valley.InschriftgndÄgyptischidszbzInschriftidszbzHieroglyphenschriftidszbzInscriptions, Egyptianfast(OCoLC)fst01199431Inscriptions, EgyptianEgyptEastern DesertInscriptions, EgyptianEgyptEastern DesertArabische WüsteNordgndÄgyptenAltertumgndArabische Wüste (Ägypten)idszbzEgyptEastern DesertfastInschriftÄgyptisch.Inschrift.Hieroglyphenschrift.Inscriptions, Egyptian.Inscriptions, EgyptianInscriptions, Egyptian493/.1Rothe Russell Dale1540471Rapp George1930-771894Miller William K174210MdBmJHUPMdBmJHUPBOOK9910781494803321Pharaonic Inscriptions from the Southern Eastern Desert of Egypt3792140UNINA02843oas 2200913 a 450 991014053500332120251114213013.01878-5433(DE-599)ZDB1459021-9(DE-599)1459021-9(OCoLC)46877005(CONSER) 2003256101(CKB)963017599092(EXLCZ)9996301759909220010504a19919999 sy aengurmnu||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierEconomic systemsAmsterdam ;New York Elsevier ScienceRefereed/Peer-reviewed0939-3625 Econ. syst.Economic developmentPeriodicalsEconomicsPeriodicalsEconomic developmentPeriodicalsDéveloppement économiquePériodiquesÉconomie politiquePériodiquesDéveloppement économiquePériodiquesEconomic developmentfast(OCoLC)fst00901785Economic historyfast(OCoLC)fst00901974Economicsfast(OCoLC)fst00902116Europe, EasternEconomic conditions1945-PeriodicalsEurope, EasternEconomic conditions1989-PeriodicalsEurope, EasternEconomic conditions1945-PeriodicalsEurope, EasternEconomic conditions1989-PeriodicalsEurope de l'EstConditions économiques1945-PériodiquesEurope de l'EstConditions économiques1989-PériodiquesEurope de l'EstConditions économiques1945-PériodiquesEurope de l'EstConditions économiques1989-PériodiquesEastern EuropefastPeriodicals.fastPeriodicals.lcgftEconomic developmentEconomicsEconomic developmentDéveloppement économiquePériodiques.Économie politiquePériodiques.Développement économiqueEconomic development.Economic history.Economics.Osteuropa-Institut MünchenOH1OH1OCLCQRBNOCLCQU9SGUAOCLCQNUIOCLCFOCLCOVT2OCLCQOCLOCLCOOCLCQUABAUDOCLCLOCLCQJOURNAL9910140535003321Economic systems797969UNINA
