The importance of the body in the culture of the Middle Ages has repeatedly been the focus of research in recent years - as well as questions about the influence of perception mechanisms and processes on the literature and art of the time. That both areas of research belong together is already supported by the ancient rhetoric, in which the deformed corporeality is given a special function of stimulating perception. The complicated and often controversially discussed interrelationship of 'inside' and 'outside' also suggests that the deformed body in particular raises certain expectations with regard to the associated interior, but at the same time triggers very specific processes of perception in a viewer of this deformed body. In addition to body and perception, a third becomes visible - the other, once understood as the strangeness that appears in the contemplation and reflection of the half-familiar deformation, once as the primal self, the soul itself, as the complement of the corrupted shell. The band (as well as the follow-up band) not only unites literary and art historical contributions, but at the same time bridges the gap to the history of medicine, to the Dis/ability Studies u. in order to show that not only the artificially-artistically designed, but also the 'real' deformed body is to be understood in its relation to the perception theories of its time."Corps (dé)formés: perceptions et l'altérité au Moyen-Âge"Abnormalities, HumanHistoryAbnormalities, HumanHistory.306.4610902Antunes Gabriela1983-,Reich Björn1978-PQKBAuAdUSAUkMaJRUBOOK9910135391303321De)formierte körper2055134UNINA04159nam 22006615 450 991033782870332120250721163952.09783030036553303003655310.1007/978-3-030-03655-3(CKB)4100000007592263(DE-He213)978-3-030-03655-3(MiAaPQ)EBC5672629(PPN)235005584(Perlego)3492489(EXLCZ)99410000000759226320190202d2019 u| 0engurnn#008mamaatxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierReconciliation and Building a Sustainable Peace Competing Worldviews in South Africa and Beyond /by Cathy Bollaert1st ed. 2019.Cham :Springer International Publishing :Imprint: Palgrave Macmillan,2019.1 online resource (XX, 209 p. 7 illus., 6 illus. in color.)Palgrave Studies in Compromise after Conflict,2946-28009783030036546 3030036545 1. Contributions and recommendations of worldview for peace-building and reconciliation in South Africa and beyond. .This book explores how competing worldviews impact on intergroup relations and building a sustainable peace in culturally diverse societies. It raises the question of what happens in a culturally diverse society when competing values and ways of interpreting reality collide and what this means for peace-building and the goal of reconciliation. Moreover, it provides a valuable and needed contribution to how peace-building interventions can become more sustainable if tied into local values and embedded in a society's system of meaning-making. The book engages with questions relating to the extent transitional policies speak to universal values and individualist societies and the implications this might have for how they are implemented in collective societies with different values and forms of social organisation. It raises the question of cultural equality and transformation and whether or not this is something that needs to be addressed within peace-building theory. It argues that inculcating worldview into peace-building theory and practice is a vital part of restoring dignity and promoting healing among victims and formerly oppressed groups. This book, therefore, makes an important contribution to what is at best a partially researched topic by providing a deeper understanding of how identity and culture intersect with peace-building when seeking to build a sustainable peace. .Palgrave Studies in Compromise after Conflict,2946-2800Human rightsPeaceCritical criminologyEthnologyAfricaCultureHuman RightsPeace and Conflict StudiesCritical CriminologyAfrican CultureHuman rights.Peace.Critical criminology.EthnologyCulture.Human Rights.Peace and Conflict Studies.Critical Criminology.African Culture.341.48364303.66Bollaert Cathyauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut784262BOOK9910337828703321Reconciliation and building a sustainable peace1743193UNINA
