The OFA resulted in a new Macedonian Constitution with policies related to the decentralisation process and equitable representation of communities. This book aims first to estimate the spending efficiency of Macedonian municipalities in service delivery from their own resources and, second, to ascertain the determinants of that efficiency. The ethnic fragmentation of municipalities is taken into account as a possible determinant of efficiency, which represents a novelty in such types of studies. We employ the DEA-VRS, Kernel and SFA estimation techniques to control for the robustness of our estimates. Our findings show that on average Macedonian municipalities exhibit low efficiency in service delivery, although there are significant variations among municipalities. The ethnic fragmentation of municipalities together with the population density, own tax revenues and political affiliation of the mayor with the leading political coalition at the state level explain differences in their efficiencies. More fragmented municipalities tend to be less efficient when providing services to citizens.Intergovernmental fiscal relations.Industrial ManagementHILCCManagementHILCCBusiness & EconomicsHILCCPublic administrationNorth MacedoniaNorth MacedoniaEthnic relationsmunicipalitymacedoniaservice deliverycost efficiencyethnic fragmentationAlbaniansAlbanians in North MacedoniaDecentralizationLocal governmentNorth MacedoniaIndustrial ManagementManagementBusiness & EconomicsPublic administrationNikolov Marjan893903PQKBUkMaJRU9910131523003321Cost efficiency of municipalities in service delivery1996849UNINA05819nam 2201681z- 450 991055767150332120210501(CKB)5400000000044790(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/69102(oapen)doab69102(EXLCZ)99540000000004479020202105d2020 |y 0engurmn|---annantxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierMarine EnzymesSources, Biochemistry and Bioprocesses for Marine BiotechnologyBasel, SwitzerlandMDPI - Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute20201 online resource (378 p.)3-03943-024-6 3-03943-025-4 This book presents contributions from scientists who are directly involved in the potential of marine enzymes as useful tools in biocatalysis; the results of enzymatic bioprospecting in gross marine environments are acknowledged, including two review articles on general enzymatic processes and microalgal enzymes. In addition, studies on structural characterizations, biological functions and aspects related to the complexity of marine enzyme-based bioprocesses are discussed. Prominent conclusions by many scientists in the field of marine biotechnology emphasize that, due to marine biological diversity and the specificity of biological marine metabolisms, the study of biocatalysts on a global scale from this environment is just starting, and possesses huge potential for the development of applications with industrial benefits.Marine Enzymes Biology, life sciencesbicsscResearch and information: generalbicssc-omics technologies2-keto-3-deoxy-6-phosphogluconate (KDPG) aldolase2-keto-3-deoxy-d-gluconate (KDG) kinase4-deoxy-l-erythro-5-hexoseulose uronic acid (DEH) metabolismadsorption analysisaffinity purificationalgal cell wall degrading enzymesalginate degradationalginate lyaseAlginate lyasealginate oligosaccharidesalginate-derived productsalkaline and cold-adapted dextranaseAlteromonasaminophenylboronic acidAntarctic bacteriumantioxidant peptidesAscophyllum nodosumasymmetric reductionBacillus sp.
