The subject began with Eratosthenes in antiquity, took on new shape with Legendre's form of the sieve, was substantially reworked by Ivan M. Vinogradov and Yuri V. Linnik, but came into its own with Robert C. Vaughan and important contributions from others, notably Roger Heath-Brown and Henryk Iwaniec. Prime-Detecting Sieves breaks new ground by bringing together several different types of problems that have been tackled with modern sieve methods and by discussing the ideas common to each, in particular the use of Type I and Type II information. No other book has undertaken such a systematic treatment of prime-detecting sieves. Among the many topics Glyn Harman covers are primes in short intervals, the greatest prime factor of the sequence of shifted primes, Goldbach numbers in short intervals, the distribution of Gaussian primes, and the recent work of John Friedlander and Iwaniec on primes that are a sum of a square and a fourth power, and Heath-Brown's work on primes represented as a cube plus twice a cube. This book contains much that is accessible to beginning graduate students, yet also provides insights that will benefit established researchers.London Mathematical Society monographs ;no. 33.Sieves (Mathematics)Numbers, PrimeNumber theoryElectronic books.Sieves (Mathematics)Numbers, Prime.Number theory.512.7/3SK 180rvkHarman G(Glyn),1956-57162MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910452847303321Prime detecting sieves711351UNINA01234nam a2200253 a 4500991001008699707536101230s2010 it 000 0 ita db13945919-39ule_instDip.to Studi Giuridiciita344.4507Problematiche giuridiche e fiscali in tema di trasferimento di azienda :atti del convegno, Roma, 23 e 24 aprile 2010 /Fondazione Italiana per il NotariatoProblematiche giuridiche e fiscali in tema di trasferimenti di azienda[Milano] :Gruppo 24 Ore,[2010]142 p. ;25 cm. This book reveals the history of these tactics as employed by nations that initiated aerial bombardments of civilians after World War I and during World War II. As one of the major symbols of German suffering, the Allied bombing left a strong imprint on German society. Bas von Benda-Beckmann explores how German historical accounts reflected debates on postwar identity and looks at whether the history of the air war forms a counternarrative against the idea of German collective guilt. Provocative and unflinching, this study offers a valuable contribution to German historiography.Studies of the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies.Bombing, AerialGermanyHistoryBombing, AerialGermanyHistoriographyWorld War, 1939-1945Destruction and pillageGermanyWorld War, 1939-1945Destruction and pillageGermanyHistoriographyHistoriansGermanyAllied bombings Historiography Second World War Germany.Bombing, AerialHistory.Bombing, AerialHistoriography.World War, 1939-1945Destruction and pillageWorld War, 1939-1945Destruction and pillageHistoriography.Historians940.54/213Benda-Beckmann Bastiaan Robert von1504960UkCbUPUkCbUPBOOK9910798091003321German historians and the bombing of German cities3858823UNINA
