En effet, ce second volet de notre programme de recherche consacré à l’énergie dans la littérature concerne maintenant l’énergie au niveau de la lecture. L’action de la lecture, au double sens de l’action effectuée par le lecteur dans sa lecture, et de l’action effectuée par la lecture sur le lecteur, implique une énergie, une energeia comprise étymologiquement comme mise en œuvre voire passage à l’acte. Nous nous pencherons ici sur des textes littéraires qui thématisent ou théorisent ou impliquent ce que nous pouvons appeler une énergétique de la lecture. Quelles nouveautés la modernité littéraire a-t-elle apportées à la lecture et à la réception en termes d’énergie ? Qu’en est-il aujourd’hui ? Le tournant pragmatique qui s’est développé dans les études littéraires depuis les années 1980 nous a rendus sensibles aux effets éthiques et existentiels des textes dans la vie même des lecteurs. Notre réflexion intégrera aussi les effets historiques et politiques de la littérature des trois derniers siècles : comment la lecture peut-elle entraîner une mise en acte, une mise en action (une energeia) ?
