It relies on a vision of cities sharing common dynamic features as co-evolving entities in complex systems. Systems of cities that are interdependent in their evolutions are characterized in the context of that dynamics. They are identified on various geographical scales—worldwide, regional, or national. Each system exhibits peculiarities that are related to its demographic, economic, and geopolitical history, and that are underlined by the systematic comparison of continental and regional urban systems, following a common template throughout the book. Multi-scale urban processes, whether local (one city), or within national systems (systems of cities), or linked to the expansion of transnational networks (towards global urban systems) throughout the world over the period 1950–2010 are deeply analyzed in 16 chapters. This global overview challenges urban governance for designing policies facing globalization and the subsequent ecological transition. The answers, which emerge from the diversity of situations in the world, add some reflections on and recommendations to the “urban system framework” proposed in the Habitat III agenda.Advances in Geographical and Environmental Sciences,2198-3542Urban geographyPhysical geographySustainable developmentCulture—Study and teachingUrban Geography / Urbanism (inc. megacities, cities, towns)https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/J15010World Regional Geography (Continents, Countries, Regions)https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/J19000Sustainable Developmenthttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/U34000Regional and Cultural Studieshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/411000Urban geography.Physical geography.Sustainable development.Culture—Study and teaching.Urban Geography / Urbanism (inc. megacities, cities, towns).World Regional Geography (Continents, Countries, Regions).Sustainable Development.Regional and Cultural Studies.307.1416Rozenblat Celineedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtPumain Deniseedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtVelasquez Elkinedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910299383503321International and Transnational Perspectives on Urban Systems2522143UNINA01234cam0-22004331i-450 99000069078040332120230109113806.0000069078FED01000069078(Aleph)000069078FED0120020821d1975----km-y0itay50------baitaengITa-------001yyCase città e trafficoJohn Tetlow e Antony Gossprefazione di Leonardo BenevoloRoma ; BariLaterza1975XV, 310 p.ill.19 cmTempi nuovi75Homes, towns and trafficCittàTetlow,John32958Goss,Antony342979Benevolo,Leonardo<1923- >ITUNINARICAUNIMARCBK990000690780403321MONNA 63MONNA 67FARBC01 DB 40443953DINST3420152254DCATACAN 24s.i.DINSTURB.LE A 710120FARBCRGT 16674862DARPUMTD 8651734/215DARPUDARPUDINSTDCATAFARBCCase città e traffico1558159UNINA
