The papers included in this volume exemplify the variety of topics and approaches now being used to understand the polyhedral image of one of the most fascinating and long-lasting intellectual phenomena in Western history. Cornelli’s paper opens the volume by charting the course of Pythagorean studies over the past two centuries. The remaining contributions range chronologically from Pythagoras and the early Pythagoreans of the archaic period (6th-5th centuries BCE) through the classical, hellenistic and late antique periods, to the eighteenth century. Thematically they treat the connections of Pythagoreanism with Orphism and religion, with mathematics, metaphysics and epistemology and with politics and the Pythagorean way of life.Studia praesocratica ;Bd. 5.Philosophy, AncientCongressesPythagoras and Pythagorean schoolCongressesPythagorean theoremCongressesPresocratics.Pythagoras.Pythagoreanism.Philosophy, AncientPythagoras and Pythagorean schoolPythagorean theorem182/.2Cornelli Gabriele327273Macris Constantinos1196679McKirahan Richard D186661MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910787763503321On Pythagoreanism3699091UNINA03021nam 2200601 450 991081892820332120220205002346.00-8130-4669-60-8130-4861-3(CKB)3710000000087862(EBL)1632926(SSID)ssj0001111454(PQKBManifestationID)12491193(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001111454(PQKBWorkID)11130472(PQKB)11494400(StDuBDS)EDZ0000865103(MiAaPQ)EBC1632926(OCoLC)870646730(MdBmJHUP)muse33103(Au-PeEL)EBL1632926(CaPaEBR)ebr10837501(CaONFJC)MIL575656(EXLCZ)99371000000008786220130730h20142014 uy| 0engur|||||||nn|ntxtccrBlack power in the Caribbean /edited by Kate QuinnGainesville :University Press of Florida,[2014]©20141 online resource (288 p.)Description based upon print version of record.0-8130-4909-1 Includes bibliographical references and index.Introduction: New perspectives on black power in the Caribbean / Kate Quinn -- Part I: Black power in Caribbean context / Kate Quinn -- Black power in the postindependence Anglophone Caribbean -- Jamaican black power in the 1960s / Rupert Lewis -- The Abeng newspaper and the radical politics of postcolonial blackness / Anthony Bogues -- The February Revolution as a catalyst for change in Trinidad and Tobago / Brinsley Samaroor -- Secondary decolonization: the black power moment in Barbados, c. 1970 / Richard Drayton -- "Sitting on a volcano": black power in Burnham's Guyana / Kate Quinn -- An organic activist: Eusi Kwayana, Guyana, and global Pan-Africanism / Nigel Westmaas -- Part II: Black power in colonial contexts -- Black power in the political thought of Antigua and Barbuda / Paget Henry -- I & I shot the sheriff: black power and decolonization in Bermuda (1968-1977) / Quito Swan -- Youth responses to discriminatory practices: the free beach movement, 1970-1975 / Derick Hendricks -- Black power, popular revolt, and decolonization in the Dutch Caribbean / Gert Oostindie -- Conclusion: Black power forty years on: an introspection / Brian Meeks. The first collection to explore the Black Power movement in its various manifestations across the Caribbean.Black powerWest IndiesHistoryBlack peopleWest IndiesHistoryWest IndiesRace relationsBlack powerHistory.Black peopleHistory.305.896/0729Quinn Kate1975-1606538MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910818928203321Black power in the Caribbean3932369UNINA04172nam 22007095 450 991029831050332120200703194033.03-642-41404-410.1007/978-3-642-41404-6(CKB)2550000001199589(EBL)1697976(OCoLC)874150970(MiAaPQ)EBC1697976(DE-He213)978-3-642-41404-6(PPN)176116265(EXLCZ)99255000000119958920140121d2014 u| 0engur|n|---|||||rdacontentrdamediardacarrierForests and Rural Development /edited by Jürgen Pretzsch, Dietrich Darr, Holm Uibrig, Eckhard Auch1st ed. 2014.Berlin, Heidelberg :Springer Berlin Heidelberg :Imprint: Springer,2014.1 online resource (405 p.)Tropical Forestry,1614-9785Description based upon print version of record.3-642-41403-6 Includes bibliographical references at the end of each chapters and index.Introduction -- Paradigms -- The Challenges Facing Forest-Based Rural Development in the Tropics and Subtropics -- Land Management Systems at the Interface Between Forestry and Agriculture -- Organizational Changes in Forest Management -- Creating Rural Employment and Generating Income in Forest-Based Value Chains -- At the Interface of Culture, Development and Forests: Insights from Bolivia and Kenya -- Extension Services for Rural Development -- Payment Schemes for Environmental Services – Challenges and Pitfalls with Respect to Effectiveness, Efficiency and Equity -- Financing Forests for Rural Development -- Land Use Planning for Sustainable Forestry -- Forest Governance and Sustainable Rural Development -- Prospects for Forest-Based Rural Development. This book provides an overview of the complex challenges and opportunities related to forest-based rural development in the tropics and subtropics. Applying a socio-ecological perspective, the book traces the changing paradigms of forestry in rural development throughout history, summarizes the major aspects of the rural development challenge in forest areas, and documents innovative approaches in fields such as land utilization, technology and organizational development, rural advisory services, financing mechanisms, participative planning, and forest governance. It brings together scholars and practitioners dealing with the topics from various theoretical and practical angles. Calling for an approach that carefully balances market forces with government intervention, the book shows that forests in rural areas have the potential to provide a solid foundation for a green global economy.Tropical Forestry,1614-9785Forest managementAgricultureForests and forestryForestry Managementhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L22016Agriculturehttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L11006Forestryhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L22008SubtropengndTropengndAufsatzsammlung.Forest management.Agriculture.Forests and forestry.Forestry Management.Agriculture.Forestry.634.9630sdnbFOR 200fstubLAN 008fstubZC 73800rvkZC 88210rvkPretzsch Jürgenedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtDarr Dietrichedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtUibrig Holmedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtAuch Eckhardedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtBOOK9910298310503321Forests and Rural Development2502152UNINA
