Dr. Harald Jenner, freiberuflicher Historiker, Archivar der Evangelischen Stiftung Alsterdorf.Long description: Aus den Alsterdorfer Anstalten in Hamburg sind im Nationalsozialismus über sechshundert Kinder und Erwachsene mit Behinderung in Zwischenanstalten und Tötungsanstalten der Euthanasie abtransportiert worden. Über fünfhundert von ihnen sind ermordet worden. Die Vorgeschichte beginnt mit der therapeutischen Aufbruchstimmung Ende der 1920er Jahre. Auch in Alsterdorf war man von der Idee ergriffen, den Schwachsinn mit allen Mitteln zu heilen. Diejenigen, die man nicht mehr heilen konnte, wurden dabei frühzeitig zu hoffnungslosen Fällen degradiert. Die Zustimmung zur Rassenhygiene, die Beteiligung an den Zwangssterilisationen und schließlich die Abschiebung der jüdischen Anstaltsbewohner 1938 waren weitere Schritte auf einer schiefen Ebene, auf der es kein Halten mehr gab. Am Ende standen die Transporte in die Tötungsanstalten und die Vernichtung lebensunwerten Lebens. Die Autoren haben je aus ihrer Sicht diese Geschichte aufgearbeitet. Im Vordergrund stehen dabei die Schicksale der Opfer: Menschen mit Behinderung, deren Lebens- und Leidensweg zum Teil bis in die Tötungsanstalten verfolgt wird.
