Yoder in his Politics of Jesus, that the early church held a selective and unified view of the nature and content of the various temptations to which Jesus was regarded as having been subjected in his lifetime. This leads to a clearer view of how the early church perceived the exigencies of its Lord''s mission and message, and provides fresh insights into such prominent New Testament themes as sonship, obedience, faithfulness and discipleship. In this book, Norma Kriger gives the unfolding contemporary drama a historical background, and shows continuities between the present and past. Between 1980 and 1987, guerrilla veterans and the ruling party colluded with and manipulated each other to build power and privilege in the army, police, bureaucracy and among workers. Both relied chiefly on violence and appeals to their participation in the anti-colonial liberation war as they sought to vanquish their then political opponents. Today, violence and a liberation war discourse continue to be salient as Mugabe's party and its guerrilla veterans struggle to maintain power through land invasions and purges of a new political opposition. This study gives a critical review of guerrilla programs and the war-to-peace transitions literatures, thus changing the way we view post-conflict societies.African studies series ;103.Political violenceZimbabweVeteransPolitical activityZimbabweZimbabwePolitics and government1980-ZimbabweHistoryChimurenga War, 1966-1980VeteransPolitical violenceVeteransPolitical activity968.9105/1Kriger Norma J.657302UkCbUPUkCbUPBOOK9910783111303321Guerrilla veterans in Post-war Zimbabwe1246473UNINA01640nas 2200541- 450 99632158910331620240201213018.02476-3306(DE-599)ZDB2939761-3(OCoLC)993472864(CKB)4340000000037273(CONSER)--2023242462(EXLCZ)99434000000003727320170613a20099999 --- -perur|n|||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierPizhūhishhā-yi tārīkhīIṣfahān :Danishgah-i Iṣfahān,[2009]-1 online resource2008-6253 Journal of historical researches.Majallah-i Dānishkadah-i Adabiyāt va ʻUlūm-i Insānī-i Danishgah-i IṣfahānHistorical researchesHistorical researchHistoryPeriodicalsHistoryResearchPeriodicalsHistoireRecherchePériodiquesHistoryfast(OCoLC)fst00958235HistoryResearchfast(OCoLC)fst00958282IranHistoryPeriodicalsIranfastHistoryfastPeriodicals.fastPeriodicals.lcgftHistoryHistoryResearchHistoireRechercheHistoryHistoryResearch.907.2Dānishgāh-i Iṣfahān,JOURNAL996321589103316Pizhūhishhā-yi tārīkhī3485031UNISA
