Whereas it had come in the night and left the other boys with chiselled, stubbly chins and deep masculine voices, I'd been left with a huge pair of knockers and the voice of a pensioner.' Alan CarrAlan Carr grew up in one of the most boring towns in England - Northampton. A place known for making shoes. It was also famous for its football club, Northampton Town FC. Alan's dad as manager of the club was a local hero. A dream come true for most lads, but not Alan. Alan wore glasses and had man boobs at 14. He did not like P.E.In his very first book, Alan tells his life story ('oh and what a life') with his unique twist of natural, observational humour -'I'm not saying I'm a fantasist but there have been times when things that I've seen on television when I was younger have tended to seep into my subconscious and blended into my own life. I remember telling my Mum about the time I stopped that woman from having a diamond encrusted necklace stolen and she'd say 'No Alan, that was Poirot.'With his tongue-in-cheek, end of pier humour that has made him famous, Alan describes an ordinary life in bursts of technicolour. His journey from awkward schoolboy hiding his man-boobs on the pitch, drinking tea with the dinner ladies and working in a call centre, to becoming one of our best-loved comedians likened to the great Frankie Howerd, will make his book a guaranteed tickler with a laugh-out-loud gag on every page.Look Who It Is!791.092Carr Alanoth1341981AUDIO9910148934103321Look Who It Is!: My Story3651108UNINA03107 am 22005413u 450 991016664390332120240219074119.0(CKB)3710000001092160(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/32745(EXLCZ)99371000000109216020170313d2016uuuu fy| 0gerurm|#---|||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierDie amerikanische verheissung Schweizer aussenpolitik im wirtschaftskrieg 1917/18 /Florian WeberZürichChronos Verlag2016Zürich, Switzerland :Chronos Verlag,2016©20161 online resource (271 pages) ;illustrations; digital, PDF file(s)Die Schweiz im Ersten Weltkrieg13034013698 Includes bibliographical references. The promise of America Swiss foreign policy amidst the economic warfare of 1917-18 The book tells the dramatic history of the final two years of World War I, during which Switzerland was in between the fronts of the world powers. The surrounding struggle for global domination caused serious difficulties for the small state. Cut off from important food imports, resulting from the indiscriminate German submarine warfare, it turned for help to the USA. The pleas of a high-ranking “Swiss Mission” sent across the Atlantic were heeded: The USA supplied the landlocked country with grain thus averting famine. While America thus boosted its reputation, the German empire became more of a threat. Agitation increased when German agents were convicted in spy scandals and trials of bombers in Zurich. Despite German propaganda, the German empire was unable to maintain its influence in Switzerland. German diplomats, as representatives of the unpopular old order, were expelled from Switzerland when the Central Powers collapsed in the fall of 1918. The USA under President Woodrow Wilson was, in contrast, enthusiastically celebrated. This study, just barely one hundred years later, enables a new view of one of the most animated periods in Swiss history, offering an opportunity to reflect on the relation of this small country to the rest of the world.World War (1914-1918)World War, 1914-1918SwitzerlandUnited StatesForeign relationsSwitzerlandSwitzerlandForeign relationsUnited StatesSwitzerlandForeign relationsGermanySwitzerlandEconomic conditions1918-usaworld war igermanyforeign policyDeutschlandSchweizSulzer AGVereinigte StaatenWorld War (1914-1918)World War, 1914-1918940Weber Florian876468UkMaJRUBOOK9910166643903321Die amerikanische verheissung1975766UNINA01711nam2 2200433 i 450 VAN010038920220325124411.630N978-88-470-0739-020141229d2008 |0itac50 baitaIT|||| |||||Vol. 2: EcotomografiaFrancesco P.
