But interest in trauma is not new; its roots extend to the Romantic period, when novelists and the first psychiatrists influenced each others' investigations of the »wounded mind«. This book looks back to these early attempts to understand trauma, reading a selection of Romantic novels in dialogue with Romantic and contemporary psychiatry. It then carries that dialogue forward to postmodern fiction, examining further how empirical approaches can deepen our theorizations of trauma. Within an interdisciplinary framework, this study reveals fresh insights into the poetics, politics, and ethics of trauma fiction.Lettre (Transcript (Firm))English literaturePsychic trauma in literatureChildren in literatureBritish Studies.Childhood.Cultural Studies.General Literature Studies.Literary Studies.Literature.Novel.Postmodernism.Psychoanalysis.Romanticism.English literature.Psychic trauma in literature.Children in literature.823.0093561Schönfelder Christa878942Knowledge Unlatched - KU Select 2016: Backlist Collectionfndhttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/fndMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK996308844603316Wounds and Words1962633UNISA01750nam0 22004093i 450 VAN0026582920250127040546.448N978354046170820231031d1989 |0itac50 baengDE|||| |||||Lie AlgebrasMadison 1987, Proceedings of a Workshop held in Madison, Wisconsin, August 23-28, 1987edited by Georgia Benkart and J.
