Sommario/riassunto |
|
This book concerns the political culture sponsored by the government of Charles II and its role in the emergence of poltical parties from 1660 to 1678. It argues that ideological divisions preceded and helped to precipitate political parties. Furthermore, it aims to show that government tactics shaped the process of party formation, rather than the tactics of their opponents, the first Whigs. |
