Questa raccolta di articoli nasce da un simposio sul tema delle donne e del lavoro in Africa tenutosi nel campus Urbana-Champaign dell'Università dell'Illinois nella primavera del 1979. Il comitato organizzatore di quel programma ha cercato innanzitutto di aggiornare il campo della studi economici delle donne in Africa e in secondo luogo, per fornire un forum per lo scambio e la stimolazione di idee tra studiosi e professionisti interessati alle donne in Africa. La pubblicazione qui della maggior parte degli articoli del simposio rappresenta un logico passo finale nel raggiungimento degli obiettivi del comitato del programma del simposio. |
