Sommario/riassunto

This essential collection of Michael McClure's poetry contains the most original, radical, and visionary work of a major poet who has been garnering acclaim and generating controversy for more than fifty years. Ranging from A Fist Full, published in 1957, through Swirls in Asphalt, a new poem sequence, Of Indigo and Saffron is both an excellent introduction to this unique American voice and an impressive selection from McClure's landmark volumes for those already familiar with his boldly inventive work. One of the five poets who heralded the Beat

movement in the 1955 Six Gallery reading in San Francisco, McClure reveals in his poetry a close kinship to Romanticism, Modernism, Surrealism, and Japanese haiku. These poems-grounded in imagination and a profound regard for the natural world-chart a poetic landscape of utter originality.

Sommario/riassunto

This book provides an overview of the role of statistics in Risk Analysis, by addressing theory, methodology and applications covering the

broad scope of risk assessment in life sciences and public health, environmental science as well as in economics and finance. Experimental Design plays a key role in many of these areas, therefore there is special attention paid to joining Risk Analysis and Experimental Design topics. The contributions of this volume originate from the 8th International Conference on Risk Analysis (23-26 April, 2019, Vienna). The conference brought together researchers and practitioners working in the field of Risk Analysis. The most important contributions at the conference have been refereed and developed into chapters to show the latest developments in the field.

Sommario/riassunto

Digital image correlation (DIC) has become the most popular full field measurement technique in experimental mechanics. It is a versatile and inexpensive measurement method that provides a large amount of experimental data. Because DIC takes advantage of a huge variety of image modalities, the technique allows covering a wide range of space and time scales. Stereo extends the scope of DIC to non-planar cases, which are more representative of industrial use cases. With the development of tomography, digital volume correlation now provides access to volumetric data, enabling the study of the inner behavior of materials and structures. However, the use of DIC data to quantitatively validate models or accurately identify a set of constitutive parameters remains challenging. One of the reasons lies in the compromises

between measurement resolution and spatial resolution. Second, the question of the boundary conditions is still open. Another reason is that the measured displacements are not directly comparable with usual simulations. Finally, the use of full field data leads to new computational challenges.
