• Sommario/riassunto: Pierre Leroux, qui fut après 1830 un des apôtres de la République démocratique et sociale - du socialisme, comme il disait déjà - a débuté dans le journalisme littéraire en 1824. Débuts modestes et obscurs, sur lesquels les biographes passent vite : Leroux, qui n'est encore qu'un manœuvre des lettres, ne signe aucun de ses articles avant 1831. C'est à cette période de formation si mal connue, et pourtant décisive, que cet ouvrage est consacré. Des documents inédits ont permis à l'auteur d'identifier, pour cette période, plusieurs dizaines d'articles de Leroux, inconnus jusqu'à présent pour la plupart : il en analyse systématiquement le contenu, en relation avec les luttes politiques et les débats idéologiques de l'époque. Ainsi peuvent être tracés les grands axes d'une pensée originale et souvent féconde : philosophie de l'histoire, histoire des religions, philosophie politique, esthétique, Leroux a exploré tout cela dès avant 1830, en ces “années-mères” du xixe siècle où prend figure la société issue de la Révolution française et où surgissent tant de problèmes nouveaux, qui sont encore aujourd'hui les nôtres.
