Enklaven sind in sozialer, politischer oder wirtschaftlicher Hinsicht von den sie umgebenden Räumen wie Nationalstaaten, Städten oder Wirtschaftssektoren abgegrenzt. Enklaven umschließen soziokulturelle Minderheiten, "Staaten im Staate" oder Produktionszonen, die den Interessen auswärtiger Akteure oder bestimmter Interessengruppen dienen.
