|
Ouvrage collectif et bilingue de neuf universitaires français et américains, La culture italo-américaine à l’écran/Italian American Culture on Screen, propose une réflexion qui réunit immigration italo-américaine et études audiovisuelles. L’exploration de la place et du rôle de cette culture permet d’envisager ses différentes représentations au cinéma et à la télévision. De l’analyse de figures stéréotypées – gangster ou flic italo-américains – à l’examen de l’immigration vue par le prisme de l’intime – dans le cas notamment de la gastronomie –, la recherche présentée ici s’étend du cas particulier (Quentin Tarantino qui revisite le genre du western spaghetti), à l’étude générale du devenir des stéréotypes dans les séries et films récents. L’entreprise collective dont rend compte cet ouvrage cherche à offrir une meilleure visibilité à ce domaine en proposant, pour la première fois en France, un recueil d’articles sur les aspects pluriels de la représentation de la culture italo-américaine à l’écran, si étroitement liée à l’histoire du cinéma hollywoodien. |
