The introduction, 'An advertisement touching Cato, and some other school-books, translated by Charles Hool' is signed and dated: "Charles Hoole. From my school, June 3. 1659".

With alternate English and Latin running titles: 'Cato's distichs', 'Catonis disticha', 'Dicta septem sapientum', 'Sayings of the seven wise men', and 'Publius's stage-verses', 'Mimi Publiani'.
