Note generali

Includes 83 full-page engravings, comprising frontispiece and 57 plates by Wenceslaus Hollar (many signed), several by Ro. Stoop, several anonymous, and Ogilby's portrait by P. Lombart after P. Lilly. The illustrations to fables 14-15 are combined in one engraving. The designs resemble those, presumably by F. Cleyn, of the 1651 quarto edition, q.v. Pictorial initial and headpiece.

Reproduction of original in Bodleian Library.

Bound with: Aesopics, or, a second collection of fables (Wing A698).
