The present volume reproduces two still unsurpassed accounts of the flourish and eventual decline of Hebrew linguistic scholarship covering the period from the 10th to the 16th century, at a time when Christian scholars and theologians - as a result of the Reformation with its emphasis on the authority of the Bible - began to study Hebrew.
