Note generali |
|
A translation, sometimes attributed to John Howell, of "Briève relation de la vie de Christine reyne de Suède, iusqu'à la demission de sa couronne & son arrivement à Bruxelles", and "Le génie de la reyne Christine de Suède". |
"Briève relation de la vie de Christine" is apparently erroneously attributed to Urbain Chevreau, secretary to Kristina in the early 1650's, by Halkett & Laing and Wing; NUC attributes the work to Gregorio Leti on the grounds that "A version with title: L'adieu des franc̜ois à la Suède, is in his Le portrait et la vie secrette de la reine Christine de Suède.". |
"Le génie de la reyne Christine de Suède" is wrongly attributed to Urbain Chevreau, and was apparently composed by a Mr. Saint-Maurice, as a vengeful satire against Kristina (cf. Barbier). |
Annotation on Thomason copy: "March 26". |
Reproduction of the original in the British Library. |
